European Middle Ages Mod Resurrection

where is it?

I thought you were talking about Ayas west of Ankara. I don't know what happened to one in Cilicia.

You mean this guy?

cool

Ok, I found some more info in Turkish sites. Apparently in Roman times there was a city (Nicopolis) a few km from today's location. Then it was renamed Mavrakastoron (black castle). Later in 6th century. Pecheneg and Cuman Turkic tribes settled in today's location, named their settlement Keygun (yep, Seljuks weren't the first Turks in Anatolia, but they were first in overwhelming numbers). These tribes later became Christians and assimilated into Byzantine Empire (culture-flip), and the town was known as Keugonia. In Seljuk times it was Keygune, but later became Karahisar (black castle). In 1473, Mehmed the conqueror modified the name into Sarkikarahisar (eastern black castle) to distinguish from Afyonkarahisar. In 1923 it became a provincial capital, in 1924 it was renamed Shebinkarahisar (shebin might have a meaning like dear or beloved - but I am not sure, it is Ottoman). In 1933 it was demoted to town status.

The town has several historic churches and mosques. It is home to an indigenous walnut species.

I am guessing due to its location it must have had some Armenian population since Roman times as well.
Thanks for the info.:goodjob: I attached a picture showing the approximate location of Hromkle. It's in the black circle I drew on the map. And yes, that Andranik Ozanian is my great uncle.:)

Considering the amount of work you've put in, it's the least I can do. I've no XML or Python ability, and no time to learn them, and I've done a lot of research to set up my maps and scenarios, so finding old maps to make city lists is quite easily done once you know where/how to find the information on the internet.

From my point of view, I give cudos to you for the work you've done, and likewise to others who've helped. It's nice to see other medieval enthusiasts.

Well, ancient and medieval warfare are more fun than modern warfare, at least to me.;) Anyway, any progress report or ETA on the upcoming version? And by the way, are you putting in 3D LH's or static? Having 3D would make the file size really huge, considering how many leaders there are to put.

Not much to say, I've just been adding in all of the new civilizations and leaders. I haven't been able to look at the leader personalities, things like how long leaders will wait after first meeting someone to declare war, or their focus on religion, war, commerce, etc. I think I'll push that over to another update. So far I am using the 3D leaderheads and I plan on using only leaderheads that move, as of right now. However, a lot of leaders use the same head, but it's signifigantly better than before (all of the main scenario leaders will have their own head). I'm considering removing Lithuania from the main scenario, because as of right now, Poland has lots of problems from being squished between Germany, Lithuania, and Hungary. Lithuania also has a tendency to block some of Russia and Tatarstan's growth. I would like to make a new map for the mod, I'm thinking like 60 by 75, but that might be another update. No release date as of yet.

Here is a list of Crusader Fortresses I was able to come up with. They range geographically from Turkey to Egypt. They are listed chronologically on the basis of their heyday (a tough call). No one really stood out as a capital. If you want one, I can review my notes and offer suggestions. Let me know what you think and I'll make revisions. I'll put the final product in a python format or whatever it is.

Crac des Chevaliers 1099

Chastel Blanc 1102

Toron 1105

Montreal 1115

Tortosa 1123

Beau Fort 1139

Ibelin 1141

Belvoir 1168

Crac des Moabites 1184

Margat 1186

Latrun 1187

La Sephorie 1187

Saone 1188

Gastun 1216

Chateau Pelerin 1218

Damietta 1219

I tried to use the Templar name when possible for the sake of uniformity.

That's good work, Broken Hawk. If the list seems short, I suppose we could add in some Teutonic Knight fortresses, as well, and perhaps there are forts of the orders that held some Mediterranean islands, as well (ie Malta).

I'm going to work on the Bulgar civ, now. I've got some maps of the old Bulgarian Empire (I and II), so I'll make up a city list over the weekend.

The Bulgarian city list... the first cities are from the 1st empire, the later ones from the 2nd. I didn't include cities from the homeland north of the Black Sea.
