I ask this because England got no votes at Eurovison, not even from Spain (an ally) or from Malta or Ireland (traditional sources of support). Pretty bad. There were some pretty bad songs, but all but England got votes. Is that the price England has to pay because of the "War On Terror"

Doesn't this suggest that England would be better of joining the USA than a Federal Europe :mischief: ?

I´ve never heard the song, but I doubt the war on terror has anything to do with the contest. England just have to axept that their song was bad.

I didn't hear the song, but I trust it was awful. It did bring a smile to my face seeing them get nothing hehe.

I heard part of it and it sounded like it was sung by a lush at a karaoke evening at her local.

Calgacus, are you Scottish?

It was a terrible song, and the delivery was hideous.

"....the horror, the horror......." :D

It happens nearly every year that songs get no votes at the ESC, but apparently only England refuses to accept that it had anything to do with the innate quality of their contibution. Some soulsearching over in those parts would be a good idea.

C'mon, that song sucked SOOO much! I've never heard a worse song in the Eurovision, ever!!!

I second that!

Edit: Just realized that I actually could recall the song from memory… The horror, the horror… :ack:

So I you will all excuse me, I have to go shoot myself now… :suicide:

Yes, the song was awful, but they got no votes whatsoever. Even the worst songs usually get a few votes, and usually Malta votes for England; but they didn't even get that.

There were only a few half-way decent songs (Turkey, Norway, Romania), but yes, the UK contribution sucked even in comparison.

In addition, an important lesson to learn if you want to score high in the contest is that you need a good act more than a good song.

I consider myself such. Why?

Just wondering why the thread referred to England, when, as you know, it was the United Kingdom. I wonder if it still would have been England had we won it?

No, Pillager, I don't carry that kind of hypocrisy and I couldn't care less whether or not you guys win Eurovision. :p

I don't understand the Eurovision Song Contest...

Britain has ALOT of talented bands, indeed historically we are the best :p

Instead of Radiohead doing a song from their latest Album (I'd suggest they sing "A Wolf at the Door" or "Suck Young Blood" we have non-entities who may be enjoyed by the 6-16 year old girls or those who act like that

Britian would force some of our decent musicians to play at the Eurovision song contest and blow the competition away :yeah: :rocket: :yeah: :rocket: :yeah:

Erm, you lost too old boy. :p

IIRC the girl was very nervous, and her voice was really bad. Still, I wouldn't pay any of my money to listen to any of the songs in ESC, they are that bad. Oh, Brainstorm was fine I think, with My star, but that was years ago:)
