@Da-greatest: The colossus is the only Great Wonder in the game that has 3 trats: Exp, Reg and Com... It's stated wrong in the manual, just like everything else. The civilopedia is wrong too.
Just try it. Play a game as the English (Exp, Com) and build only the colossus, and I guarantee you, you'll get a GA!

Some wonders alone may cause golden age, like:
- Pyramids (Ind & Rel), causes GA for Egypt (Ind&Rel)
- Great Wall (Ind&Mil), causes GA for China (Ind&Mil).

And to the question:
- yes I've had my GA's in both manners, but mostly by building wonders.

My GA has usually started by Wonder. Also by UU (Immortals, Hoplite, Impi, Mounted Warrior etc.)

Only by building them..........captured quite a few but no GA.

I almost aways build up my GA, that is more often than by a UU. But I've never captured wonders to get a GA...

I ahve anyway got GAs with UUs(bowman, immortal, etc)

Does the wonder have to be built in the same city as the captured wonder to trigger a GA?

No. The 2 wonders' locations have no bearing on your GA, just so you control them both. As America, I've had the Pyramids in an inland city, then the Lighthouse on a coastal city get me a GA. The only difference in building vs. capturing is that if you build, you get the culture points; if you capture, you don't.

I've triggered a GA by both building a wonder and through a battle victory for my UU; it depends on which civ I'm playing - the earlier in the game the UU arrives, the more likely that it will trigger the GA rather than the wonder.

I don't recall ever triggering a GA by capturing a wonder though.

The only way I usually trigger my golden age is with wonders. It boggles my mind when people _want_ to do it with UU. I like to time my GA a little better. Some civs, such as Babs, I never even make the UU for fear that I might accidently start my GA. I play at Emporer level though so I can usually control the Wonders pretty well and usually get all but a few wonders.

As da_greatest pointed out, you have to capture the Wonders, and then build any other wonder, to trigger your GA.

I have gotten them both from building and capturing wonders. I thought I read that the way the triggering of a Golden Age by wonders works is that whenever you build a wonder there is a check for the traits of all wonders you actually possess. So if you have captured a wonder (or wonders) that match your civ's traits you will trigger the GA only upon this check. So capturing a wonder won't immediately start the GA, but may in effect be what triggers the GA when you do build a wonder (even if it doesn't match your traits). Does this make sense?

Yes. Whenever you build a Wonder, the game checks to see if you have Wonders that will trigger your GA, if you haven't had it already. It doesn't matter if you just built it, or captured it or whatever, just that you have finished building a Wonder, and some combination of Wonders you possess meets the requirements.

In the example given a bit earlier, if, as the Americans, you capture the Pyramids, and then capture the Lighthouse, after that, *any* Wonder you build will trigger your GA.

Is the chance for a GA 100% after I build the next wonder or after I capture this wonder as Egypt or China... Put more simply, if I capture the Pyramids as Egypt, and I have not had a GA, will I automatically get one immediately or upon the next wonder completion... Also, what if I never build another wonder?

If you posess any combination of Wonders that are appropriate for your Civ, you can trigger your GA. The key is, this is checked only upon completion of building a Wonder. So if you capture a Wonder (or two) that will give you a GA, you must still build some Wonder in order to trigger it.

In my nearly two years of playing Civ III, I have never had a GA, much less even heard of it!

J/K ;) I've triggered it every which way possible.
