Expansive Dreams

Welcome on board cripp7. Your story mirrors mine....

Ignore my hammer enquiry from above, I forgot that EXP is 25% and not 50% worker bonus. Still is it rounding up or down?

So I moved the scout 1SE to see what was in the fog if we settled on the plains hill.
Civ4ScreenShot0001-1.jpg

If we did settle on the hill we'd be losing grasslands and gaining plains from what I can see.

So....
If we settled in place and worked the forested plainshill once the border pops than we get the worker in 20 turns.
If we settle 1S and work the forested plainshill straight off we get our worker in 18 turns.
If we settle 1SE on the plains hill and work the forested plainshill then we get the worker in 15 turns (16 if you count the lost turn to move on to the hill).

I'd be inclined to settle 1S as gainning plains and losing the chance to mine the hill later for a worker 2 turns earlier doesn't grab me.

What do you guys reckon?

Thanks for that Pindrus. Don't suppose you want to join the team do you? Go on you know you want to.

Well, Currently, you have 18 Production with -8 food with 4 Citizens (Mine the Hills,) and +8 food with two more Citizens on the Corn. In the Mid term, a 6 Citizen City stagnating growth at 18 production is good, and it gets the 25% bonus for 4.5 more Worker production for 22 production of workers. (5 Turns when Grown). If you settle in place, this will be able to pump a Worker every turn, and 3 Axemen in 5 turns.

There's a good chance of hidden metal around, so in place or 1S are both fine.

Wish you the best, but I think I can only keep track of one Shaka at a time :crazyeye: Will be lurking though!

Hey guys...I'd be willing to fill out your roster if you want.
Solid monarch player here trying to make the jump to Emperor.

My vote would be to settle 1S as it would allow two cities to have a corn source for growth.
I just figure that a two corn city early on would waste the food.
Late game a two corn city would be a monster production city.
But in keeping with the expansive theme I like having two separate corn powered cities for quick early growth.

Well struick your in. How do you like them apples?!!!!

Well I think its got to be 1S as I agree about using te other corn for a second city - maybe even our second city depending on what the fog throws up.

I'll try to play to day but I might be squeezed for time till monday if I can't. So if I post today good. If not then I'll swap with who ever wants it.

Our complete roster. A thing of beauty.

I'm really sorry guys but I've run out of time today. I thought I'd finish work at lunch time but thats not how things worked out in the end. I've got to go up to London to see my girlfriends new niece this weekend and will be away from my computer till monday.

So this is a skip. An inauspicious star.

I don't have the post scoput move save to hand so just replicate it from the 4000BC save - no moving it some were else!

One thing I did think about to day though was the in place 1S or 1SE issue. Even though I was touting 1S I think its a compromise between the fastest worker and the most food and thus probably a duff choice. For my money its 1SE with the settler like cripp7 says,if we don't like it move him back and settle in place.

So my OFFICAL, BINDING vote is 1SE. Even though I think we'll pop a resourse there..... Aaaaarrrgghhhh some body slap me!

If we did pop bronze we could Impi rush some fools.....

IT IS MY FREAKING TURN!

OMFG!

Is it? It is!

*Muttters* Got my ass handed to me on an axe rush in Prince: How ashamed! Monarch! Monarch! The hight! My mistakes and trimphs will affect the entire history of the SG! I am doomed! Or am I? Strategy strategy strategy: Go for bronze Working and pop Worker yes, yes. Must find other AI, Circular Scouting *Mutters*

"CHARLES! IT"S YOUR TURN!"

"Um, you guys seemed to made a mistake, you all thought I start the s... O, M, F, G"

*Charles looks at the Palace that is stored in one of the Magnetic Backpacks the Settlers Wear*

"Wow, the Legendary Urn of Souls! Known to hold the spirits of the entire Zulu Army!" *Pause, then Whispers* "Hello?"

"Please turn arround!"

"Hi Cripp" *Turns to look at the Urn again* "now, how do you... CRIPP!"

*Shattering the Urn*

(And so,the Zulu Army is unleased: is it really my turn?)

Settle in place. A strong capital is a huge asset. Early game it provides most of your hammers and commerce, mid game with bureaucracy it provides a big hunk of your hammers and commerce. Two corn allows it to grow quickly to mine them hills and regrow quickly after a whip-round.

Are you open for another player? According to the recruitment thread and the first post you are, but it does not sound like it judging from the last posts.

Lets play!

Tempory internet access.....

Hi oynaz. Seven can be quite alot on a roster in my experience as you can go weeks between turns. If you want I can keep youon a reserve list in case of MIA's. Please feel free to lurk and chip in though as its always nice to know others appreciate and enjoy the game!

If charles hasn't played in the next 12 hours or so then I suggest some one just takes it and gets this show on the road. I want to see whats out there!

IT is my turn? Ok, If I don't screw up, I never even looked into a Monarch Save Game Before!

Will be done before 12 HRS promis! So SE Scout?

Yup, check SE then decide on city location, debate on this is unresolved afaik.

You'll be fine. The only game I've seen lost in the first 10 turns was an always war game with a nearby AI and unprotected capital.

I think almost any of the 3 obvious settling ideas are fine.

Just do what you think is best (with in reason) as is your turns! Just don't spend 15 turns moving the settler around.....

I'm happy with in place if this makes it easy. pigswill is happy with in place too I belive. Charles you think in place? cripp 7 and sirloin?

In place will be a great buearu capital and a good IW city - lots of food for the engineers and rivers to watermill.

Looks like a mass of Plains Hills we got there: Fog Reading reports 4 plains.

Also, Image Capture is buggy, so I used Prinscreen+Paste in Paint.

So, what do you guys think?

Oh yer i don't want to patronize you Charles Li so sorry in advance for this. Don't forget to spiral the scout around our start location rather than heading off in one direction.

Sorry.
