Explorers should Hover

Hello, I am sure I am not the only one to think this but I think the Explorer unit should be able to hover the later part of the game.
The amount of dig site that go to waste because the explorer unit cant get to them usually ranges around 10 per game for me. and the Explorer can't use the phasal transport satellite. also it would be good later in the game if your explorer cant go from land to water with out losing movement.
 
i agree with this. I also dont get why there isnt some sort of later game movement upgrade for the explorers... Everything outruns it by far in the late game - and they dont exactly have the line of sight to make up for it.
 
I'm in favor of initial explorers being land-bound or waterbound (depending on the city that builds them), but a very early tech available in the first 20 turns would make them both land-bound and waterbound, and then a late-game tech around turn 100 would make them hover, so they can get to those resource pods stuff behind ice walls.
