Fall from Divine Intervention I: Amurite Analogies

I'd love to... but unfortunately I'd either have to receive non-stop smiting or play way under my level to take over. Too bad none of these options are fun...

Ah well, it was good while it lasted. should we wait another week or shall we place ads for a new player? "Uncle Seon wants you to be Mortal" sort of thing I mean. I think something really happened to Korias and he has no way of contacting us probably due to...

- Medical emergencies
- computer on strike
- assassinated by elves
- gremlins
- birds
- squirells
- pie (my personal favorite)

So when do you guys think that we should stop waiting and start over?

I have this really cool idea which would be absolutely whacky:

A player is playing (I was thinking Auric, but it might be better to play a non-agnostic civ)

Another civfanatic is the One (me, I was thinking)

The other civfanatics are the Angels.

Each angel will recieve goals and restrictions on their interventions by the One. This is private info and can be shared with other at will, but can as well be kept secret.

The Mortal will recieve goals from the One.

Each turnset, the Angels will have the possibility of editing the save. It is very important not to overdo anything, and one must follow the restrictions presented by the One (which are merely to avoid cheesy-completion of your own goals, like granting a Savant if your goal is make the mortal found AV).

The first Angel to edit the save after a new set must also make changes for the One (these will mainly be balancing changes).

By the end of the game, the One will reveal the goals of all the angels and how well they fared. He will also post the goals of the mortal and their progress.

Examples of angel goals and restrictions:
Bhall - Goals:
-Have the Mortal promote a unit to Fire III (0/3 complete)
-Have the Mortal free Brigit the Shining from the Ring of Carcer (0/1)
-Make sure the Clan of Embers AI stay alive (Alive)
Bhall - Restrictions:
-You may not gift the mortal any arcane units with fire promotions, or add fire promotions to any unit.
-You may not add levels of Channeling beyond I to any unit.
-You may not gift the mortal any units of level 5 or higher, or raise the level of a unit the mortal owns beyond level 5 (exceptions can be made, confer with me first).
-You may not grant the Clan of Embers techs, units or gold.

Mortal (Calabim) goals:
-Attain level 15 with a Vampire unit (0/1)
-Grant Vampirism to a unit that does not possess the ability already and get that unit to level 10 (0/3)
-Adopt the Aristocracy civic and run it for the rest of the game (Not yet adopted)
-Own three sources of Body mana at a time (currently 1/3)
-Reduce a conquered city to size one by using Vampiric units to feed on the civilians
-Feed a Bloodpet to a unit with Vampirism at least 25 times (Not yet complete, 0/25)

Whaddya think of the idea?

I think it is fine as it is. It is much more fun for the gods to make their own goals and provide challenges how they see fit. I do think that standard Civ4 divine intervention rules are not working well. When we finally finish this we should make a thread to decide on the rules for FFH.

If we get to start anew I'm prepared to face mortality. Just give me a civ I like... and I'll survive. And since I like most of 'em... that shouldn't be too hard. ;)

I also think we should stick with the original format. On the issue of rules changes, I don't really think that the rules themselves are flawed, I just think that people need to be a bit more conservative with their changes, especially in the earlier parts of the game. A few changes have been overpowered and caused some concern, but they were easily rectified and I think overall nothing has really distrupted the game balance too much. I do think Korias has gotten too many free units though: he easily has gotten at least 15 by now. Anyways, I think these problems just came from everyone trying this for the first time; I think it will be better as we move foward. (if we can at all :()

I think out of respect to Korias, it is best to leave this game as it is until we hear from him. Of course, that wouldn't stop anyone from starting another one to keep us occupied in the meantime. :goodjob:

Edit: Just saw you post Paulus, glad to hear it! If you start another game could you post a link to it here?

I'm content with waiting till we hear from Korias. It definitely seems like something relatively big has happened. It'd be a shame for this thread to end, though.

As for Diamondeye's proposals, it's an interesting idea, and would probably be interesting to try - but I couldn't imagine it working with more than maybe five or six people in total, including the mortal and the One. Perhaps a project for someone and a pile of his RL friends. Interesting concept, anyhow.

And, there's definitely room for another FFH DI. Haven't decided yet if I'd participate or just lurk, but I'll be keeping an eye out...

What would the One do? Destroy the world by erasing each and every single thing on Erebus?

Don't forget non-stop jibbering at other gods ;)

Anyone wanting to exchange roles before the next game? BTW which angels are currently free for the taking? The first post isn't very well updated, I presume.

I think it'd be best to open all spots again for a new game. If anyone wants to continue as the same Angel, sure, but I don't think I'm not the only one who'd like to consider trying another role :)

I think we should wait until April 10th, that's almost a month
I still want to be Cerunnos

The One would not actually do anything as The One has left creation
