Fallout: New Vegas

I wish there were more Legion involved quests. It's pretty easy to earn the respect of the NCR; they have dozens of outposts all willing to dole out quests, but all of the scarce legion quests involve doing something drastic and game shifting that I don't want to put my neck out for.

I smell DLC.

Ah the Van Graffs. That was a screwup of mine of that gave me a lot of caps.

Well also the Legion really talked-up the Burned Man and I was hoping to run into a singed body walking across the wasteland willing to pay me caps to hack Caesar to pieces.

Burning Man DLC???

If the NCR hates you do you miss out on a lot of quests? I am "villified" for the prison invasion thing.

Oh and
Spoiler :
using the giant death ray on them did not help either. It was just too tempting!

Yeah, they hate me... I killed every NCR guy i found, failed a bucket load of quests too, but hey, it was a fun challenge.

Uh... I'm getting frustrated with this game. It's a bug fest. It seems like there isn't a single quest that wouldn't be bugged in some way. It's damned frustrating.

Like here is a few:

After completing "We are legion" quest (killing all officers in camp Forlorn Hope) I keep hearing about the massacre of Forlorn Hope, legion taking over it, when in fact I only discretely killed 4 officers I needed to kill and when I travel there, NCR troops are still there like nothing happened.

When you dress like "white glove society" (put their attire on) and then undress (remove it), your reputation with all factions you know will increase. When you repeat that action, the reputation will increase even further... :crazyeye:

When you acquire too much playing cards in your inventory the game starts to crash... :wallbash:

Those are just but a few of lots of extremely annoying bugs I encountered so far. I'm sure that if I hadn't the experience of "Oblivion" and "Fallout 3" (handling fragile bugged quests, recognizing and avoiding exploits) behind me, I would break or fail every second quest in this game.

Vittujen kevät!

Picked up FNV over the weekend, so far I'm really enjoying it. I liked FO3, but this one's much better so far. I'm still really early in the game - level 5 or so - and just now on my way to Novac for the first time, after doing the quests in and around Goodsprings and Primm. Hoping I get a house or some kind of storage sometime soon, I'm already irritated at how much crap I carry. :P

Yeah, the main quest there should point you to The Strip. You'll get a house from Mr. House there.

I'm confused here... Can someone who understands this game, explain to me why I still haven't won by this point?

You have to not go over 26. At that point, its all about attribution and waiting until the guy backs out or goes over in his other cards. All you can do at this point is just keep discarding cards.

That's exactly what I did until there was 0 left, at that point I had to either place cards or disregard 1 of the "caravans". I disbanded the 3th "caravan" and won. Before that happened I saw the guy going over 26 and and disbanding his caravans yet I never won. I hate cards... even video game cards.

Just finished the game yesterday. I tried to get a happy ending for all the factions I cared about.
Spoiler :
Missed the opportunity to convince the Followers to support NCR, so they got kicked out of the Old Mormon Fort. Forgot to deal with Vault 19 too. At least many others got a happy ending, especially Boone, the Khans, the Kings, and ED-E. Tabitha and Rhonda's ending was also nice. Can't believe Jason screwed me over on Novac though. I'm second-guessing my decision to talk the Legate out of fighting. I wonder if I should have kept the Legion leaderless so they can't build up strength as quick.

Anyone playing this on Hardcore? How hard is it to keep your followers alive? I don't want to pick someone up and then have them die in the first fight

Any patches yet for the quest bugs?

Wondering if I should wait for the GoTY version if it's as buggy as SickFack says.

as far as I know there were 3 patches already, none of them seemed to do anything about quests... again as far as I know. Though I read that the 3rd patch fixes companions getting stuck in certain situations, but I'm yet to find out for sure.

I can tell you that there wasn't much success with those patches so far. For example there were 2 patches that supposedly fixed the bug where the dog's eyeballs are floating on the right side of it's head (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q24grxb9RHg&feature=player_embedded) and yet I'm still experiencing that bug. 2 patches, no success.

GoTY's are always good, but I sure wouldn't have the patience to wait for it. Despite all that Bilbo Buggins crap, it's still a very good game.

The game has three caravans in it - represented by the three columns on the table. The cards are the bids placed by you and your opponent.

The game ends when all three caravans are sold - and to be considered sold, the bids on a caravan must satisfy these criteria:
1. Is bet on, and the bid is in the range of 21 to 26
2. Not in a draw (same bid for both players)

When the game ends, the player with more caravans wins.

So to end that game you posted, you can change the left-most caravan so that the bids are not tied. Since you have won the other two caravans you will win the game no matter how you do it.

I usually look at the Fallout Wikia on tips on work arounds for the bugs that causes severe crashes (Like the one that takes place in the hoity-toity Casino where the rancher's son has been missiong). Sometimes, there is usually an involvement of using the console, but that comes at a cost of disabling getting achievements (Because it's cheating when technically, youre going around a bug) for the remainder of the play session (The achivements are reenabled after restarting the game).

I just finished tonight. Great ending, great game. It's like 1 million times better than FO3. I'm exaggerating a little bit. but it's far superior. Fallout 3 I quickly got bored doing side quests, and just wanted to get the game "over with". Not so in this game, I completed nearly every sidequest I could find with the exception of Searchlight. I didn't want to mess around with the radiation in that town. Radiation is annoying. Black Mountain was annoying too for that reason.

I'm not sure what I screwed up with Vault 19.
Spoiler :
I killed the main leader, but I did leave all the others alive. Should I have wiped everyone out?

As for the followers, I'm not sure how to get a better ending for them. Maybe I missed a quest somewhere.

Who is Jason?

I only used a few followers during the game. I used Cass and finished her quest (violent way), used Boone and finished his quest. I was happy with both of their endings. The dog had a decent ending I guess (he has no quest I'm aware of). ED-E I fixed, but his quest was bugged. There's a bug in the PC version if you exhaust all the dialogue options with the lady at the scrapyard before you repair ED-E it bugs out.

Although I guess the game counted Lily as a follower, but I never really used her. The voice and appearance freaks me out. :)

Cass is by far the coolest follower. Boone was alright after you did his quest. But he didn't say much in casual comments. But that's part of his personality.

So one thing I wasn't sure of in this game was the order to do the ending. There were so many different ways it seemed to end it. I like that of course. Most games only have a "good" or a "bad" way, I like a game that gives a few more options. I really don't feel like replaying that much, however. I am starting a new game, but will wait until I finish more sidequests before I "commit" to my final path. That way I can see most possible endings. I am thinking of an evil-ish Unarmed/Explosives character. I figure I need explosives for things like Deathclaws. I'll probably use a lot of sneak too. I did in my first game until about halfway through. Then I was too powerful, and never bothered with sneaking as my Q-35 could wipe just about anything out. Except the tougher deathclaws. The legendary one was quite tough.

One question about the beginning. I think I found out midway through my game, but forgot.
Spoiler :
Who was Benny working for? And who hired the courier to deliver the chip? I don't understand that part. Benny was trying to overthrow House right? Why was House not in posession of the platinum chip?
