Fallout: Tame The Wastes

Just to be sure I re-downloaded again from the temp link. The .thm file is fine, the folder is correctly named "Fallout Tame The Waste", and I am running the game as administrator, but it's not working.

and you definately have it in your mods folder in your bts install folder, and not in my documents?

It was always one of these issues that caused this error I am sure...

I am going to download it again today and install it and run it, just incase it does it for me too, but I am pretty sure I tested it and it was fine...

EDIT:
just downloaded from the link and put the mod folder in my bts mods folder and it loaded up fine... so I can't see it being a code/file issue...

Something must be going wrong on your end, but unless you havebeen putting it in My documents, at this point I can't think what it could be! :D

I never put my mods in My Docs. Hmm... I have no idea what it could be though, every other mod I have right now works, including one I downloaded yesterday... Well, thanks anyway, when I get it to work, I'll be back with my impressions and any bugs I find ;).

Sorry Lib, same here...

I see that your res file only includes GameFont_75.tga. Does not seem normal.

The total size of the mod I have is 262 MB (275,394,208 bytes).

Edit: hmm... and it's full of useless stuff for the player! :D

(folders debug, release, python-K-Mod, save the python! :D:D)

Yeah I know.... I need to clean it all up :D

I will do eventually, I figured 100Mb download was not so bad, and really all that useless stuff adds up to maybe MAYBE 10mb, most of the size is useful stuff like art :D

and ball sack! it is not working for you either.... this really doesn't make any sense..

Why is it working for me then!! :D

Ok try this fonts folder see if that fixes it..

It seems I have been missing one of those for ages, don't know why and I don't know why it hasn't caused me problems..

debug and release folders could technically be useful to a player if they want to test for asserts, or want use use the release .dll they have the option! I am an options kind of guy! :D

but your right the python ones are complete useless rubbish :D but they are so small I just couldn't be bothered to do anything about it :D

I have so many old version of this mod on my computer, I dare not delete any of them in case they hold some gem for fixes one or other problem or adding one or other bit of content! :D

I think about 180mb of the mod is art, the python -KMOD folder doesn't even hit 2mb... so that is about 1% of the art folder, I won't lose sleep over that for now :)

Not again :wallbash:
I think this mod really needs a release script. A simple script, which exports the git source, copies specific directories and stuff like that. A well written script will include everything needed AND include useless stuff like object files. Given how well it went with the last few releases, I would say writing such a script is urgent :cringe:
:hide:

well the problem is right now I can't even find what is useful that is not there because the folder that I download works for me...

So what exactly would we say that this script would contain that my current release version doesn't contain.. I can't find anything wrong with it so I can't identify what is wrong with it...

I DL the folder and the folder works... So why does this folder work for me but not isen or random... becuase if it is something outside the folder that makes it work on mine... it would have to be something in the vanilla version of my game that nobody else has... but.... how?

In the previous version error, I DLed it it didn't work went doh fixed it and it was fine... this time i checked and it works for me straight from the download... So... I have no answer.. it is an error that I cannot seem to replicate..

Sorry again, same error. Included some log reports (the rest is not interesting).

... except that the debug does not seem to be a debug as it has more or less the same size that the three dlls in the release folder! :D

can you guys try removing the Resource folder and then load the mod and see if it works?

nothing in those logs jumps out as a problem... the xml one I am pretty sure that has been like that for ages as I have just been lazy in tidying up the now nonexistant xml entries, but I am 99% sure iti s fine and not the problem as it doesn't do anything to me so...

The sound one may be that you haven't added in the sound folder from the previous version, but again this shouldn't be an issue, you jsut won't get the new sounds, and maybe you will get a little python alert that says it couldn't be found when it tries to play, but it is not an intrusive popup...

and again it doesn't crash mine...

From a quick search, the GFC error seems to be related to filepath issues and them not being the same..

but the resource folder only points to mods, nothing beforet hat so the difference between my file path and yours shouldn't be an issue either...

I cannot think of any other file that this would affect, or at least not one that would result in this kind of error.. maybe a python file, but those don't error out like this.. they just give you popup errors in game..

Out with the resource folder: same error

Out with the res folder: same error

Try with this file! ;)

By the way, your requirement component needs to be adjusted to the new folder's name as well.

yeah that was one that occured to me in my last post (requirements) but as far as I know it would not explain a ctd because it is python, it would just spit out a popup in game.

did you find something in that misc file? what was it if you did?

oh yes I just found it, I have absolutely no memory of that one, so I guess because I had the original k-fallout folder it read it out of that one instead?

I never new that a nod could 'cross read' into another mod folder... that is an interesting fact :D

So is it working for you now isenchine?

Also where did you find the file line for chagning the requirement script, cause for the life of me I cannot find it!! :D

Once something works I tend to forget about it for it's own safety!

Yesss!

DEFAULT_THEME_NAME: Mods/Fallout Tame The Waste/Resource/Civ4.thm

Was still K-Fallout => crash!

Line 107.

ok so changes are

Civ4ArtDefines_Misc
Requirements.py
civ4.thm

did I miss one?

Well done isenchin, you are going in the credits as the Fathomer of the Unfathomable

You may request a new title if you prefer!

But I learnt some new things today, like mods can 'cross read' mod folders that is something I did not know!

I probably knew the artdefines one once upon a time... but I forget most of what I learn when it comes to modding! :D

It is again my own fault for trying to make the mod folder nicer!

I am partially glad I did it because I learnt some new things to watch out for, I just wish I had learnt it before letting it out to the world! :D
