is there a list that shows all of the famous quotes, like when you research a new tech, and there is a quote accompanying it. i was looking for one, and i cant remember who said it, or what tech it was but it was really good.

it involved something like, sacrificing the rights of the individual for the sake of security and liberty will deserve nor recive neither. something like that at least.

i found it rather relevant to todays claims about unlawfully spying on american citizens by their own government. of course, they are just claims for the moment.

It comes with representation I think, or one of the ones around democracy. I can't remember who said it, but I think it was Ben Franklin. I would like to know as well if there is somewhere that just lists all of them, though. There are quite a few good ones, IMO.

"Anyone who would sacrifice a little liberty, to gain a little security, would deserve neither, and lose both."

I think that is what it is, almost exactly.

If there is a list, then maybe we could edit a few of them. ;)

Last to discover Archery?
"Momma said stupid is as stupid does"
Forest Gump.

It's a famous Ben Franklin quote.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. "

On a topical note, the Senate today blocked the renewal of the USA Patriot Act to which this quote applies quite nicely.

:goodjob:

just as a side note... that ben franklin quote... the one in the game... is commonly misquoted... i believe the one in the game is a misquote as well... i think the one accepted as correct is:

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety

Personally i think the one in the game flows better... and doesn't really change the meaning... but i'm pretty sure it is a misquote nonetheless

wow thanks for the info peeps. a mis-quote? interesting, but nevertheless a good quote all around i think. thanks!

You can find the quotes in the file Civ4GameTextInfos.xml, located in assets\xml\text. That's your "list", and there you can edit them to your heart's content. Of course, Spock will still say what he says.
