Fascism? Why?

Shortly after entering the Industrial Ages, the Dutch - long time tech leaders, with several large cities to their name - suddenly switched to Fascism for no apparent reason. I've only ever seen this when a civ is at war, and the Dutch weren't. Why? Does anyone know what's going on?

The AI are absolutely in love with fascism, I don't why, they just are.

maybe few, just few during my games were commie.

i haven't tried fascism - but commie had worked very good, many times for my _large_ empires.

and one more thing : AIs usually go for nationalism-fascism-commie techs early in IA.

Although in VC3/PTW they tend to favor Commie, not demo. So maybe not.

Of course this would mean Sid Meir himself is a Fascist and he made this game in favor of the Fascists. I myself is a Commie and im Proud of it but comps be fascists?! Whats wrong with that? I usaully attack & Destroy Comps as soon as they be Fascists and I MPP other Commie Comps...until they become Fascists

How can anyone beileve in the ideals of communism when they go against human nature and would never work as marx envisioned them?

little bit off topic :
the question is - have You seen what it can do to the people and to the country? how much damage it can leave after many years? not even 'true communism' just real socialism?
and ideal communism, which was loudly propagated in early 20s of last century isn't IMO possible as was shown during history of east Europe.

Lenin tried true communism. It lasted about a year. He was so frightened by the result that he never dared again. Pol Pot was a bit more fanatical in his effort and we see the results of that.

Actually, communism is impossible except in small groups. And, as the Puritans found out at Plymouth Rock, it doesn't work very well in that case either.
