Hi,

I am big fan of civilization and love it mroe than any game. When CIV4 released it was like a dream come true but as i recall in CIV 3 it used to take hours to get to the middle ages but in CIV 4 i cannot enjoy that. I want things to happen in the dark ages and many things in the middle ages and slowly reach the modern age. Unfortunately here i start war with one nation during in BC and hostilities continue until the modern age, its like centuries pass by in minutes. Is there something i can do where i can enjoy the middle ages and not get rushed into guns and tanks.

play on epic or marathon

I agree with you and have many experiences like that. I want to really savor an age for a while. Things that slow down the game are making the map bigger, lowering civ #, disable tech trading, choose marathon speed, etc.

Other than that I suggest mods. There are various mods that expand the entire game like visa or focus on an age like the european middle ages mod.

Comon Epic and marathon are useless they slow down everything,
i wany to slow down technology and time but building units, cities at normal.
if things go longer then there is much more to remember.
its like im taking my warriors to my enemy land, by the time they reach they carry rifles.

Marathon is like that... the AI stacks are much larger than they are on normal speed. Though I advise playing on a Large/Huge map with more civs than the recommended when playing Marathon.

The simplest way, I think, is to go to the gamespeed xml and copy the research and turn increment data from the marathon to the epic game settings (as well as the inflation numbers). That way, your epic game will last as long as marathon would, but give you a lot more time to play with each era.

So there's 460 turns in a normal game.
660(1.43x) turns in the epic game, but everything is slowed down 1.5x. So you'll actually get fewer units buildings and techs.
1200(2.61x) turns in the marathon game, but most everything is slowed down 3x, except for unit training which is slowed down only 2x. So you'll get more units but fewer techs and buildings.

Well, the Mod in my signature makes military units be created faster. It more or less makes units cost what they did in CivIII. Building and technology rates are the same as in the usual game.

It has more of an effect in the Modern Age than Ancient due to how CivIV costs compare to CivIII costs, but it's still a bit faster early on.
