Risk 2210 AD! There's nothing like nuking the whole planet in one turn. :D

I gather all my forces on the moon. All the other players are like "what on earth?" Then I get the Invade Earth card and invade earth from the moon...I once got all of Australia and half of Asia with that card

Risk, Monopoly, Chess and Space Hulk in no particular order, you gotta love toasting those 'nids or overpowering those termies :D.

Chess, gomoku (a sort of tic-tac-toe five-in-a-row), backgammon, a little go now and then and checkers ocasionally.

Risk and Chess. Old-School. :D

Am I the only person here who likes a game of draughts (or 'checkers' as colonial cretins call it)?

Risk is also very good, but can devolve into arguments, especially if you've gathered a group of friends round especially and one of them gets squashed early on. They usually end up as tea boy, and it's not appreciated (I hasten to add it wasn't me!).

Would also love to try diplomacy, but can't find enough people who are interested locally.

I have a gaming group that play very frequently, usually non-stop overnight marathons during weekends or any public holidays :)

There're a lot of games I like... here's some:

Puerto Rico by Rio Grande Games
Settlers of Catan, Stone Age, Cities and Knights
Civilization and its expansion Advanced Civilization (not the Sid Meier one)
Civilization: The Board Game (the Sid Meier one)
Coda
Blue Max
Robo Rally
Tyranno Ex
Acquire
Titan: The Arena

Never heard of any of them :(

Boardgames is not a popular hobby in Hong Kong... I would never heard of any of them too, if I have not met my pals.

Many of my pals are my schoolmates and elder schoolmates in secondary school. A few of them found out about AD&D, and that led them to other boardgames too. They talked to someone in Charitas Youth Centre, and started a boardgaming group called "Game's Life"... and I met them at school's chess club and joined Game's Life. That's how I started my 12 years of boardgaming :)

Hong Kong doesn't have any well-known boardgame producers... there was a few guys publishing a card game they designed but that's about it. Most of the games my pals and I play are bought in a remaining few game shops, and mostly online. The games usually are from USA or Germany publishers.

Most people in Hong Kong also don't know about those boardgames I mentioned... they probably don't even know the term "boardgames". The only games they know about is a few of the old classics (Chess, Chinese Chess, Go, Monopoly, UNO, Scrabble).

Chess, Monopoly
Risk is ok, but I always lose!!
Why can't chance be on my side just one time!?

Monopoly and Axis and Allies
