Favorite Conquests Scenario?

I might try that in the future, though my abilities in the editor are largely limited to renaming stuff. I can try though.

My favorites were Middle Ages, Napoleonic Europe and Age of Discovery. Then I got Europa Universalis :mischief:

Now I like Rise of Rome and Mesopotamia.

I liked Napoleonic Europe, Sword of the shogun and the two Rome ones

I like WW2 and Napoleonic Europe.
Same here.

The Fall of Rome wasn't to bad after I set myself up to control one or both the Roman civilizations. It made things much more enjoyable, since I don't care for being a barbarian.

New to Civ but after my current "normal" game I'm planning to start a Napoleonic Wars -game. The era is interesting and I like the coalition stuff, in normal Civs too it's cool to get the world wars going.

Really discovering the scenarios only now.
I've played the Rise of Rome a few times, and the WWII out of interest, but now I'm playing the Napoleon one and I like it. Took the obvious French choice on Monarch level, and starting off with 2 armies is nice...
I'm setting the AIs up against each other. (aka everyone against the Neopoletans and England!)
The Austrians and the Prussians got into a war early too, so that will halt their progress...
.
Now I took Amsterdam (duh), I'm attacked by the english on sea and I'm taking over Italy... Next victim will be the prussians, I see the Austrians as a friend.
I was thinking of Spain, but I formed an alliance with them against England and Portugal.

My first prio was some horses and privateers (although I don't think they're very usefull against the english...) and then some workers.

Save attached.

Whoah!
The Ottomans have really taken a hate against the Portuguese. They are moving their horses though my land and through Spain. (I'm even thinking of duping the Ottomans as a friend and let their troops be destroyed by the Austrians and the Spanish... but there are quite a few horses in my own backyard.)

Spain has taken the second last Portuguese city.
The Prussians are gone.
Now I have only enemies with the Portuguese, but I have a buffer from the Spanish, Danes (huh, we had a pact?) and the British.
An invasion at the English island is almost impossible since they built their navy and I didn't. I wonder if a straight transport to London can be done.

My favorites and favorite civs

1. Napoleonic Europe (Russians, Austrians, Neapolitans, Ottomans) (Sweden- after adding one horse to the map...ridiculous)

2. Mesopotamia (Phoenicia, Mycenae) Nice quick game

3. Middle Ages (Germans, Castile, Bulgars, Maygars, Poland) Vikings are too easy

4. Rise of Rome (Macedon, Persia, Scythia) Rome and Carthage are fun but I hate all the naval warfare

5. Sengoku (Whoever has Hiroshima)

6. Fall of Rome (Visogoths, Sassinads) Huns start out with all those horseman but at most i can take is 3 cities from the ostrogoths and theyre so far from everything

7. Age of Discovery- (France, Spain, Iroquois) I took out England as France and took out most of Portugal as Spain in the beginning

8. Mesoamerica- Just not my favorite better as (Olmecs, Moches, Toltecs)

9. WW2- Games turns take forrevverr (Commonwealth, Dutch)

Just played the middle ages as fatmid and first turn I destroyed tripoli moving my capital to tunis. tunis is more centrally located and I went after blacksmiths on the norse tree first. usually fatmid has a decent score in games when I am not them, but they have hardly any victory points. blacksmiths helped me to pump out ansars and i attacked burgundy (southern italy northward) and Cordova simulataneously.

For rise of rome as the persians if its not already easy enough, try destroying your capital and its gets moved to Antioch which is in a great location. use cities close to greece for military and your cities away from the fighting as settler factories. easy victory

7. Age of Discovery- (France, Spain, Iroquois) I took out England as France and took out most of Portugal as Spain in the beginning

Hmm, interesting, that is the one scenario that I decided I really did not want to play with at all in modifying it. I did manage one win as England, and if I had understood the mechanics of it better in my first game, I suspect that I could have won as the Dutch. I have not thought about starting wars in Europe, however.

I play that one as a hot-seat with me controlling the US, the Commonwealth, and the Dutch. I let the AI control China and Japan. I have modified that a bit though, as that Japanese combat engineer unit is insanely powerful. I also keep thinking about changing the Japanese government to Fascist, which is a much more accurate depiction.

Im not gonna lie playing as England in AOD is a daunting task. As soon as london starts to grow I find its hard to keep my production up. As the dutch, a while back I won on regent by destroying all my cities once i settled in cuba and settled the Caribbean, much easier brining treasures to my capital. I just thought hey, Europe probably isnt that heavily defended cause the AI is just focused on expanding.

Thats interesting that you play as those 3 at once and that would make more sense to change their gov

I like playing Napoleonic as Ottomans.
Ally with Russia and Prussia against Austria- Steal all their territory!
Ally with Russia against Prussia- Same.
Ally with France (unless they are against Russia) and take Southern Italy
Then attack Portugal- if Spain refuses a right of passage, attack them first!
Form a ROP with Russia and let them demolish France
After France is gone, take the British part (They ALWAYS end up with Paris and Lyons!)
Then build an ENOURMOUS Fleet of transports and Ships of the Line
Invade Britain- starting with Ireland
Then go from Wick southwards- Britain doesn't defend it's northern waters!
If you can be bothered, attack Sweden
NEVER ATTACK RUSSIA- By the time I am usually strong enough, they have Guards. And the Ottomans can't defeat Guards. Besides, you need them to act as a decoy so Austria and Prussia's armies go and attack them while you steal the cities. It's so good taking Vienna- Imagine that! Ottomans take Vienna in 1807! Heheheh.
The rest of the scenarios aren't worth playing- except maybe the Medieval one recreating the Byzantine empire before the Mongols and the Plague arrive...

@Theov- You can take a transport from Amsterdam straight to the outskirts of London and offload units the same turn. But then they get pwned by the British who have built their army for an invasion of France that the AI will never attempt against a human player.

As the huns I tried moving my settlers to better land (where the scythians are in rise of rome) but i just missed building the scourge of god (which was attillas nick name) but the puny celts beat me to it. In my efforts to conquer the romans I got caught up fighting the ostrogoths and later the visogoths destroying both, but the byzantines had already won (despite the fact I had taken 4 vp locations from them) without any help from others

I'll try that later in the game when I have more armies.

I've been doing solely European wars in that scenario the last several times I've played it. As a strategy for winning, it usually doesn't work for me - I usually get ahead early, but lose later as the treasures come in. But it is fun, and that's what counts!
