:sniper: :ar15: I'm probably going to buy a FPS soon, and am looking for suggestions as to what one to get. Right now i have my eye on halflife 2. Requirements are not an issue.

Doom 3 and ever interesting Painkiller :D Has somebody played Painkiller here? The game is quite slaughter, even though that it's brainless it still gets you into the killing spree mood. Action and fun are guaranteed

Free ones: Americas Army http://www.americasarmy.com/. Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory (downloadable almost anywhere you can find AA). These are fun and free FPSs, they take a while to download though. In ET there is a lot of ingame loading, and there is also a map editor for ET. My username is AK47 in ET. America's Army is fun, it is also very realistic. You go through training and try to complete realistic goals in online missions. Both games are online, although you can complete the training in AA offline.

Games you buy.... BF2!!!!!!!!!

Half-Life 2 is a great game, and I can definately recommend it. Stunning graphics and a great physics system. It is a bit short, though.
If you seek a truly epic game, go for the old Deus Ex. Should be purchaseable for very little these days.

Call of Duty +COD: United Offensie. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is fun too. Ok, these are the only FPS games I have and have played.
Unless you count running around Morrowind killing everyone with a bow and arrows.

OK thanks for the suggestions guys.

Empkillyouall, when you say BF2 do you mean StarWArs BattleFront 2 or BattleField 2?

Both Half-life games are great (even HL1 though it's 6 years old).
Max Payne games are great too especially the story (well they are TPS games but the difference between those genres is minimal).
I've also played demos of Far Cry and Unreal Tournament 2004 and they seem to be good games.

Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam are both great. Battlefield 2 is probably equally awesome but my comp won't run it. :(

I don't like Battlefield Vietnam, seems like they didn't work as hard as they did on BF1942.

BF2 or CSS. CSS maybe isn't as good, but you get more satisfaction when you own people, generally with accusations of hacking etc.

BF1942 was good when it was new-ish, but it seems dated now, and the amount/quality of people playing it has fallen drastically.

Half-Life 2 or F.E.A.R. You can't go wrong with either.

Battlefield 2. I dont have it, but it is supposed to be amazing...

Add to that list Doom 3 + Farcry and you pretty much got it covered.
