not meant to be sour
I'd just like to know how to eliminate hapiness / have more amenities to not have any problems with the hapiness of my nation. I have resources but I can't wage war on a large scale in a big empire, too many ppl and the wars take forever. So it just stalls and game is not fun anymore, I think it's made much worse than in Civ5.
I'm not a programmer but if something in the code is set, it can be set differently then. Can therefore be made for each resource to make more ppl happy? That is my question and my request. Hope it's a easy as changing a parameter, like making resources more plentiful. Is it (parameter, file) ?
Thanks.
open "Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Assets\Gameplay\Data\Resources.xml" with a text editor, find "<Resources>", you'll find line with Happiness="4", change 4 to whatever you want (but not 500000000000000000 that's too big)
I don't think it will work with a savegame, and you'll have to redo that after every patch.
yea, did that, doesn't work, must be some mode affecting it then (I guess).
to find it, I must disable every mod, and try it, right?
Edit:
tried it, have 2 cities, 1 has 6 ppl, other 1; I have 2 lux, amenities stand at +1 in 1st and at +2 in 2nd city
as I see it, that's vanilla
dunno what's pulling it down
Would a mod take a lot of work?
The Happiness column affects the number of cities which can gain 1 amenity from the luxury resource. No single resource will ever provide more than +1 Amenity to a single city.
this is because CITY_AMENITIES_FOR_FREE has nothing to do with luxury resources. It is the starting 'amenity #' every city gets for free when founded.
The UI display does not appear to show this extra free amenity, and when I changed the value to '5' it still only showed +1 for my capital city even though the capital city was growing to sizes of 5 and six. I had no other sources of amenity other than the +1 showing as coming from the Palace.
According to LeeS, its working, it just doesn't show you. He said the population of the city got to 5 or 6 and it still always said 1 amenity. Feel free to ignore Amenities from now on, I think?
heh, I'm too dumb to read it that way
must try
Edit: it works, kind of. In peace time so far amenities went to -1 but pop rises and I didn't add any new resources and built no entertainment district. I think there is still the problem of war weariness, though this might be manageable. I guess it's affected differently as there are mods which address this problem.
Will play some more and see how far war weariness comes and how quickly.
Perhaps pick a bigger number? The game can't handle numbers that are absurdly huge, so try 50 or something. That should be more than you'll ever get from War weariness.
No sure if this was mentioned already, but you can change the Amenity Per Pop value to 10 or 20, which means that you need one amenity for every 10 or 20 population.
