Feedback: Khazad

While this is a great discussion about the finner points of siege weapons, you guys are just insulting each other now. This game/mod has thousands of different strategies that all can be successful if used correctly. So arguing and saying that each other have some sort of logic deficit and are grasping at veins of logic, is just borderline rude. At the beginning, you guys were using statistics and theory to back up your ideas, now your just trying to make the other ideas look bad, and sadly, failing. After reading all of that discussion, I still am confused as to the strengths and weaknesses of both strategies. Since it turned into mostly incomprehensable arguing over mute points.

What I think would be interesting is how both methods would be countered by an AI opponent. Obviously the AI isnt going to think on its feet like a human would, so it would be curious to see how the two methods would fare against what an AI normally does, and WHICH AI's it works better on. For example, I would definately rather have cannons along if I am going against a barbarian AI of some kind. They tend to use lower quality of troops and hordes of them. A few cannons will take out the whole stack very efficiently, while you may need a few more turns of a few more mages to equal the same effect.
 
Those low-quality troops could be nice fodder for turning your mages into Archmages, though.

Is this where we're supposed to start ridiculing each other?
 
Meh, I am going to admit defeat and just back out of this one. I would LOVE to take back that post... but, I always find it silly to delete whole posts like that. Oh well! I guess that just goes to show that this is all opinion, with the thousands of strats, its all opinion.

And yea, DuckAndCover... good point. But your logic is inferior :D
 
I thought that the khazads don´t have Mages. And catapults don´t move 4 squares. Sure, assasins for example are very good at taking out mages, but a mage is a very powerfull tool in combat. Bye the way, fighting mages without having some of them your own is something I experienced myself. You guess it, I lost.
 
I love Khazad, played them alot. I consider ROK being decent religion generally, but in hand of Khazad its very nice one. I don't think they are overpowered or underpowered. The gold from palace is somewhat strange though - enchantment mana could be more appropriate perhaps.

World spell is not bad, but I can see better. Comparing to some other worldspells (like Lurch one!) it is weak.

I like your idea about special Khazad guid (corporation). But I'd also like to have some spell for rising a hill (like earth2+dwarven, 10turns delay,some chance of failure) ? Some peak usage can be nice perhaps.

As it is now, Lurch are better for bigger games. Khazad are better for early rush game, since agg trait and war wearines bonus.

I'll post Khazad challenge soon, so we can compare scores to other civs
