Is the FFH excel editor actually usable? I wanted to play around with the religion weighting for some civs and maybe see what else is possible. When I tried to make any changes though it came up saying it was read-only so I had to save it as a different name, when I tried this though it said I didn't have permission to save or delete anything in the file that the Editor is in. Is the editor meant to be able to use?

I have vista btw.

Hmm, it fully works when using WinXP.

It also isn't read-only using that OS (unless you make it read-only, then I encounter exactly the same problems you described).
So try changing that and it should work fine (?)

I have, and it doesn't have the read only box ticked. That's partly why I was confused.

Sounds like a UAC problem. You may want to check your Vista permissions, the editor works fine but I have had problems modifying problems on Vista with many utilities.

so you have vista now?

No I dont. Sometimes I take control of peoples comptuer remotly if they are havign problems with FfH thaqt I cant reproduce and Ive seen the behavior when controlling Vista computers.

Yeah I have this problem too. I think that Vista automatically sets all of your files in your programs folder as read only. it's really a pain, and i haven't yet figured out how to undo it. But you could just drag the ffh files to your desktop, edit them, and then drag them back to their folder. or does that not work? (it's what i do for the civ 3 editor)

Is this fixed with 0.33? It was one of the things that new installer was supposed to take care of.

@loki:

Right click on the folder, go to properties. There should be a tag named 'security' or something like that (in German: 'Sicherheit'). Then select your account and check all permissions.

No, it says I don't have permission to save files in the programs file.

Only way I've found around it so far is to save it elsewhere then copy and replace the original file. Vista is such a pain sometimes.

If you're fooling around with Vista, could you take a look at the problem with modular loading? As Xienwolf explained it, the problem has to do with resource numbers getting reset between passes when Vista loads a module from the Modules folder.

You guys editing have excel 07 right (with XP)? Maybe I should upgrade office but it seems like such a hassle...

Yeah you need Excel 2007 to use the editor (its the first version of excel to support more than 256 columns which we need for FfH).
