This is getting tough...
is it worth it...?

I guess we could make it only apply to techs you know the cost of (ie techs someone else has already uncovered and which are listed in the tech list (on the first page).

As it is, I don't like this idea. It rewards homogenization and penalizes innovation. There is a substantial risk that the unknown tech you research doesn't have the units/buildings/affect you want, and then anyone with enough rp can use the toys the same turn you can. IMO, there needs to be a substantial reward for uncovering a tech (like with Ley Lines). Here's what I propose:
Any buildings unlocked are half price the next turn
Any military units unlocked have a bonus 0.5 military quality for 2 turns
New civics can be switched to at no/reduced stability cost
Other effects are magnified, etc.
I don't know if this would be balanced, but I think something like this should be implemented if the 'same turn use' of uncovered tech goes ahead.

This, in my opinion, is the main point.

It DOES reward homogenization (which linguilism already does).

can't events give rp points though? so you might not really know if you had new toys to play with or not...

In addition, Tyrs's point about events affecting RP makes a lot of sense. An event could, potentially provide negative RP (which it hasn't happened yet but which might be possible) in which case the new rule goes out the window.

So, although i see what ekolite is saying (to me the most important part being that you want to be able to play with your new toys the turn you research them), i have come back around to the opinion that research priorities will be listed last in the series of order 'functions'.

I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone (especially Ekolite) but thats the way it will be.

Sorry for any confusion this has ultimately caused.

Please understand that this is my first forray into the world of modding and if i make mistakes like this, you'll have to just forgive me.

Please Note Due Dates for Recon and General Orders
Note: Orders Due Orders for reconnaissance scouting missions are due Thursday, March 6th. General orders are due Sunday, March 9th.

So it is- wow- got you to post.

Either way - all recon orders should have been submitted yesterday or earlier.
Orders are still due Sunday (whatever day of the calendar that falls on)

<.< I would post more often, but my Elves do not have much to do so far as diplomacy would go and this story I am writing is being a bother.

“That should do it.” The Amurite Alchemist muttered, as he poured a vial of a noxious, green liquid over the pile of gold in from of him.
“Indubetably!” responded one of the Hippus Wise men.
“But will it be powerful enough? Another Amurite countered.”
“It should be… Remember, it’ll be reacting with the gold, which, as you know, is the most noxious of metals, bringing out the worst in people. It’ll be in an enclosed environment, building the toxins up, ready to be released as soon as the chest is opened. And, even if not, as soon as Grak touches the gold, which he, as a greedy barbarian, will do, the poison will go through the skin into the Blood.”
With carefully gloved hands, they piled the Gold into the specially prepared and warded Chest that would be delivered to the Orc Warlord.

Under careful guard, the Chest of gold was rushed to the Allied camp, where it’s arrival had been anxiously awaited.

“Warn Ember that the gold is ready and she should be ready to act tonight, no matter what.” General Caswa instructed the orcish spy in her tent. As the Orc slinked out, the General called the troops together, ready for the battle.

OOc: sorry for the bad story, but the creative juices weren't flowing, and Immy said I needed a story to make this work.

Okay- this is a hidden story- if you- the player- know it- but your nation has no reason to know it, you cannot act on it.

(in the future i will be sure to specify that the story should be submitted with the orders and only published after the fact... my bad)

EDIT: i like what you had to say about gold bringing out the worst in people.

Orders are fine.
By the way... i think we have different opinions of what complex is. I think so does Kenkrajin and Ekolite. They have more words in thier orders when they buy a farm then you do when you are ...... l

they are fine but you can make them more complex if you want.

If you go on MSN or the chat channel we can talk about it.

No- i'll just write you an e-mail.

Orders are starting to filter in and i got to say this turn should be pretty exciting.

Also- i'll roll for random events right now.

Rolling number between 2-7:
3 events

Event type:
3- mild bad
3- mild bad
5- medium/strong good

OOC: Thomas please send me what I wanted you to send me. I want to know what's happening and If needed I can add some extra details/ideas.

OOC: Orders will be in asap, at some point today. Hopefully thomas can send his info first.

Is it possible to go into research point debt by the way? Just by 10 points or so...

no research debt- sorry ekolite.
