FfH2 0.20 Bug Thread

If it hasn't been fixed yet: Prophets can gain random religion promotions at creation, and then be upgraded to a disciple/priest of a different religion - as an example, a few versions back I created prophets in a veil city until one got the veil promotion, upgraded it to a stonewarden of kilmorph, and then used the 'found temple' ability to create a temple of the veil despite not having the infernal pact tech.

Just a minor thing, but is there a reason why skeletons aren't melee units? At least I suppose this metal things in their "hands" are swords ...

I don't want them gaining xp.
 
hmm how come when i regenerate map with hippus my hippus settler does not get mobility or sentry (whatever that +1 to sight thing is called) not sure if it is a problem isolated to Rhoanna or regenerate maps in general
 
Evidently, to join online games through Gamespy, one must install patches a-h to a clean installation of the base mod "FallfromHeaven2020." Unfortunately, the oldest version i have saved is "FallfromHeaven2020f" and the only one I can find on the forums is "FallfromHeaven2020h." Can anyone help a brother out and link the original?
 
patches are cumulative, you should be good with the base mod + the latest patch.. -h at the moment

i was playing as khazad and had a great merchant do a trade mission in an ai's city. at the time my vault was stocked and then after i got an extra 1900 gold and there was no description for my vault for the next several turns. it later came back.

It was mentioned before, it is the regenerate map problem. Next time go to main menu and start the game again not regenerate.
 
Also, forgot to add this but Acheron was not in his city the last game i played. When i had my scout go near his city, he was three or four tiles away from his city. i dont know if he started there or could walk around but regardless i know that it was a bug.
 
- Sphener's Sanctify spell did nothing to the AC for me when removing the ruins of cities (using Patch h - startet using e or something)

Yes, this doesn't seem to be working. I 'sanctified' city ruins with an adept and the counter didn't budge.
 
Soon after the 4th horseman appears, hellfires will open everywere. Those are some sort of "rifts" in the world fabric. Demons are spawn by those "rifts". I thought they were barbarian demons (read this somewhere) but they are indeed infernal demons. If they appear when you have too few cities, this can be a pain. How did the counter get that high before the veil was founded anyway?? :confused:

I thought they would be barbs too. What a surprise!

There were no Evil civs left so I guess no one was inclined to research the Ashen Veil. I did it just to see what happened and so I could get a nice free tech with the Infernal Grimoire.

should is the operative term here. I wouldn't have posted my request if the solution was that simple.

My request still stands. Surely someone can assist.
 
Yeah I deleted some files between 2020 and 2020a because they didnt do anything anymore. Unfortunatly patches are overlays, always additive. So if you installed the original 2020 you have those files (but they dont do anything) but if you installed from the updated 2020f then you don't have the files.

The multiplayer game checker sees that there are file differences because there are files on one side and not the other and cant tell that they are used by either version.

Surely there must be a better way of doing that? A player would expect that his melee promotions work against skeletons because, well, they ARE melee ;) Wouldn't a "doesn't gain xp" promotion be easier?

I don't think it is a bug. He is allowed to move around now.
 
Ooops! I think I posted this in the wrong place. Here is my problem:

My system: Win XP Pro, Service pack 2; 1 GB RAM; 2.2 Ghz, 1 old processor (not dual core); Nvidia Graphics card with 128 MB.

I have played FfH 2016 quite a bit (most recently with patch "i") and really enjoyed it. But I have been working on other projects for awhile and not kept up with more recent developments.

So last night I discovered and downloaded and installed FfH 2020. I also applied patch "h", the only one I could easily find. Having read some of the previous notes and warnings, I made sure the show the health bars option was turned off.

The game started up fine. I went through the process of selecting all of my game settings (continents type [FfH], world size, ethnic type, difficulty level, etc.) with no problem. Then I told it to set up the game. That process started, but never finished.

The green progress bar moved about 1/8th of the way across but never moved further. The music continued to play and the PC seemed to be doing something; the drive light continued to blink, sometimes slowly, sometimes more frequently and quickly before slowing down again. I let it run for quite some time (20 minutes?). But nothing more ever happened. I could not exit the process by any means. I finally had to turn off the PC.

Do you have any ideas as to what I should try next? Should I try to apply all of the patches before "h"? If so, where can I find them? Aren't all earlier patches rolled up into the most recent one?

the problem is caused by the map script you're using, all the ffh map scripts had to be updated for fire. try with the new ones

(if that doesn't work, use ALT+TAB or CTRL+ALT+DEL to get to desktop but DO NOT exit FFH. Wait a second and then switch back to FFH, and the bar will then catch up with itself. I had this problem too and this seemed to work)

Excellent guidance, icantcmyeye! Worked like a charm. Led me to discover the SmartMap, which I immediately fell in love with.

And I think your help will keep me out of trouble today. My wife is out for the afternoon and early evening. I had planned to sneak off to the computer store where I would have likely spent some money. But now I think I will be staying home to play what is very much like a whole new game! :D
