Hello folks,
There's already a thread for Field of Glory II, the turn-based battle game, but I am curious about the grand strategy game that accompanies it. The player rules an empire in the ancient world for around 300 years, and the game's defining feature is the legacy/decadence mechanic. Poorly run empires will shatter and new empires rise in their place, which sounds very interesting. Battles can be exported and played tactically in Field of Glory II for a more in-depth experience too.

Does anyone have anything to say about this game?

Kind regards,
Ita Bear

I'm curious about this game. I've played it for around 10 hours and, if I'm honest, I don't see the appeal. I'm puzzled by reviews saying it has incredible depth and is one of the finest grand strategy games. I just don't see it. Beyond constructing random buildings and moving units on a RISK-style map, there's very little to the game. Subjectively speaking, it's extremely ugly, the music is appalling and grating and the UI is very lacking - keeping track of the trade goods used by the game's trading feature (another overrated mechanic, in my opinion) requires clicking into numerous different menus and mapmodes. If anyone loves this game, what is its appeal?
