i was thinking of making a mod where one of the victories was getting a lot of gold. maybe 10,000 on quick, 20,000 on normal, 35,000 on epic and 50,000 on marathon. anyone know how to do this?
 
ooh, I like that idea. Not sure how to implement it, though. Would it be in C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4VictoryInfo.xml? I don't see an option for financial victory, but maybe one could be manipulated.
 
I'm pretty sure that you would have to get into the cpp core files to implement a new victory condition. As far as I have gotten to know the structure, you can use XML only for changing the parameters of functions that do already exist in cpp. Especially a new victory condition would so much change the logic of the game (think of all the AI tactics), that it wouldn't be done via XML alone.

Ie. you program the routines for a possible financial victory into the gamecore dll, and in XML you could change the actual victory threshold from, say, the default value 10000 to 15000.
 
I wanted to request this too. I also dont know how.

It would be good to include trade routes. eg you also need to have 20 trade routes giving over 15 comm/turn, and the 10, 000 gold.

Possible resource trades too. 4/5 of all lux,health, resources.
 
Anyone played the scenario set in the Middle East, the name escapes me at the moment. Something on the far east trade route. The goal was to accumulate 30,000 gold I believe..

Interesting idea, and it did work fairly fun in Crossroads, especially giving the spy mission Steal Treasury new meaning. Have the other players be warned as you come close to your goal for extra tension.

A spin on it might be 'Globalism', achieve x gold, + 65% penetration of the world market with your corporations (i.e. 65% of all cities host a corporation that you have founded). Might need some smooth mechanics for removing competing corporations from cities.

The Corporation idea sounds interesting.

Just Accumulating huge amount of money seems not to add much...

nice idea. But i would include something like getting certain financial wonders and a majority of banks in the world. Something to simulate getting the world's reserve currency or the Bretton Woods.

A very cool idea and would create a lot of new strategies, even for small countries too.

PS I think the 'energy victory' should be a different victory - capturing most of world oil and coal outright or by vassals. All cities have power. build the ethanol standard corp. etc

HA I think the most I ever received was 5K gold.... muhahahahahhaha HA

Just kididng, I am sure its possible but gold is best used not wasted...
 
its not that i didn't use it its that i couldn't get rid of it. and its annoying to have a treasury to support multiple empires and not be able to use it, unless i gave it away to other nations:mad:
