Description of problem - When the player doesn't have any combat units available (units with >0 defense) and he finishes an improvement or a wonder, game crashes.

Steps to reproduce -
1. Make a custom .biq with warrior requiring a resource or a tech not available from the start.
2. Load the .biq and pick a civ that doesn't have spearmen or other combat units from the start.
3. Build an improvement, for example a temple.

Observed result - Game crashes with a Windows "Civ3 Conquests needs to close" -error message.

I use 1.02 Conquests so I'm not sure if the betas fix this.

Do you have the biq/save?

Came upon it when making my mod so no. But here's the .biq I used for verifying it. It has simply warrior requiring iron. I picked Babylonians and built a temple which caused the game to crash.

We don't have to do it - but if we do, we save them some time which can be used to fix the bugs instead. :)

And some bugs aren't always easily reproducible, despite the best of instructions, so if we can provide savegames that reproduce the bug every time, we save the programmers a lot of time.

I agree for bugs which are difficult or take long to reproduce, but in this case the description of the bug was quite good, and the time needed to recreate it quite little, ...
My point was more about the fact that when the bug is really easy to reproduce, a sav/biq file is not always needed...

But a lot of little bugs add up to a lot of time - so if it's so easy to reproduce, why don't we just make it even easier on the programmers, and make sure they spend their time doing what we would like them to do. :)

I guess I wouldn't argue at all if one of them posted once around here saying they noticed the bugs and are taking care of them... best would be if someone from the Firaxis team posted a list of the bugs they are working to fic and kept it up to date once in a while....
anyway, I try to always add a sav/biq file to my bug reports, and will continue to do it so...

I'm trying to keep track of all the bugs that are posted, and have sent a list of 150+ bugs to Tavis. It's a lot better (for the game) that I spend my time checking and verifying the bugs, than that he spends all of his time doing it. He would never get around to fixing everything if he had to keep track of the bugs posted in this forum, I fear. :) Believe me, the programmers will fix the bugs if they can within the allotted time.

I will post a list of all the bugs that need savegames or further info in a day or two.

And btw, you're doing great aeldrik :)

@ Isak thx for the comment, nice to see things are being taken care of.... Bugs tend to bring the player's blood pressure too high too fast and the best way to cool it down is this forum.... I guess the only reason some of us (I am definitively one of them) sometine get "too" angry is because they spend so much work and time on this.... and this is because it is the best game of its kind out there....

I'm sure hoping I won't have to post too much anymore to report bugs, but will sure go on playing, and just using every option...
