The crash is reproducible? I.e. same time every time you load the game, even from a couple auto saves back?
Error message will come when code hits an assert. It could still be code related without having the assert there (very important to find such a crash) OR its memory related (which are usually the non-reproducible ones).
You can also try to swap to the civ where the crash happens using ctrl+shift+P and see if you can get around it.
Finally, upload to github

Generally speaking, it is not recommend to play with non VP compatible gameplay mods. Since you aren't an expert in modding I think your best course of action is to ditch them.
I am NOT sure if this exact crash is reproducible. Usually i LITERALLY save every singe turn. However, getting annoyed at LITERALLY having to start a new game 4 or 5 times, after reaching approximately turn 120 - 150 is REALLY annoying. So i basically removed every single Mod that i did not REALLY want. i was left with the VP Mods and 3 other Mods. The last save i had before the crash was approximately 5-10 turns before the game crashed. I could try and reproduce the exact same steps and save each turn along the way, then if the game crashes in the same turn, it will then be reproducible.


I am actually studying programming (i started recently). Though i have NEVER modded anything before. That is why i was wondering if anyone else could do the modding and release a VP compatible version of those specific Mods. If not, all good But i figured i might as well ask, just in case someone else, who can mod, decides they like the mod and wants to make a version for VP.


I am NOT sure what you mean by using ctrl+shift+P to see if i can get around it? Considering there is no warning message and the game just instantly crashes.

Also, when you mean swap to the civ where the crash happens? I am not sure if you mean Civ 5, or a specific civ. But i ALWAYS use Augustus Caesar -- Rome.



Whatever is causing the crash, i think it is either one of the NON-VP Mods, or the issue has not been fixed (at least since the October version). Since i first played a few weeks ago, and downloaded the October version. The exact same type of crash, the CTD crash, occurred when using the October version. I heard that the NEW version would show error prompts (which it did). So i figured that if the game crashed, then i could at least see what the problem was, and show someone hhere, an maybeget it fixed. (There were some error messages that popped up - around turn 40-100 i think).


Also, ]ditching the NON-VP Mods, is not a very good option. Becausse i LOVE my Outposts (though the game has never lasted long eno7ugh for me to actually build them). And i ESPECIALLY LOVE MY SLAVES!!!!!!!!!!! :D


Also to not. When i FIRST started using VP,, i did NOT know that apparently the 43 civs, ONLY allows a maximum of 63, for whatever reason. So the first 1 or 2 times i played (different save games), i was using the maximum number of civs and city states. Thoug this recent save game, i was only bbusing the maximum 63 total,and i reduced all the NON-VP mods to ONLY the ones i really wanted to use. I will try and reprudice the CTD error iand submit a save of the game, form the turn just before the error occurs if possible. :D

So, first off. I was going to add an edit, to the previous comment a few hours ago. Because i went back to check what the latest save file for the game was. It turns out,m i had actually saved the last turn before the CTD crash error occurs.

Also, since i have the last turn before the CTD error save file for the game. I will probably submit it, with a list of Mods used, since i was able to repproduce the crash.


Also, in regards to you telling me to press it and try it. I did it the first time, DURING the other civs turns (nothing happened). I tried it again, this time, during my time; And to that, i will only state the following:

I recent did a game with 4.18.4 on continents plus..... I went 40 turns and explored everywhere and there wasn't a single goody hut and resources were very spare. I ended up giving that one up since it started me in the desert and closest neighbor was assyria, and you don't want them for neighbors
 
Another game on 4.18.4, I have no bad events enabled, but I am getting killed with them. Floods, plague etc

I also have chill barbarians enabled, but there are freaking barbs everywhere it is out of control. And it looks like the AI civs nor the city states are very interested in taking them out

at some point 'no bad events' was changed to just 'bad events' ie if you have them 'enabled' ie the box checked in 4.18 you have turned them on instead of off. double check you have the check boxes setup correctly

there are freaking barbs everywhere it is out of control.
can confirm this part, though i play raging and enjoy this aspect... definitely seem to be more instances of barbarian infestation in some areas lately

I just had one of my cities turn into a city state by revolt. low happiness and my butthead Persia neighbor keeps starting wars. I have other cities that are revolting but those units are red like barbs.

edit - this actually maybe a good thing, since that city was on the front lines of war. Once it became a city state and it is still revolting constantly, I am able to kill the barbs and gained allied status with it. And now it is fighting off Persia while I regroup and rebuild. Sucks for all the investment I put into the city but I should have known whichever was closest to the AI was going to be a bad day at some point.

I see this fairly often, maybe it AI strat to push hard for CS control and attack when they have what they consider enough? but it feels suspicious and doesnt really add up,
Basically during wars the one Im warring takes control of a vast amount of CS, in this case its japan (not statecraft) and there are TWO statecraft AIs in the game (one now my vassal).
Its maybe just playing different than me, but authority fealty and totally dominates CS? he does have Roman forum but I dont see how that outpaces two statecraft AI.
What am I missing?

I agree, this happens in pretty much every game when the top civ is at war with me. I don't know how they do it if it's legit but it's pretty annoying.
Doesn't seem possible that they can spam that number of diplomats while keeping their military supply AND buildings topped up, and also being the #1 wonder builder.

And I don't understand how the other civs just seem to let them take ALL the cs either. Aren't they building diplomats too?

One possible legit cause could be cs quest to declare because Ive been running around taking tribute, not sure how common this quest would be.
 
It's very low priority to fix since it's not trivial and you can live without it. AI doesn't use this function.
 
It was definitely annoying at first when it stopped working properly, but eh, I had literally forgotten it was a feature until it was brought up here so clearly I've gotten used to it lol
