Finishing the game on Chieftain...

What's the earliest that you guys have finished a game on Chieftain? How did you do it? Victory type? Strategies?

I finished my second PTW game on Chieftain with a Space Race victory, but it took me until 2043 to do it. How can I finish all the techs - and the game - sooner, so I get better than a "Pathetic" rating or score at the end? By the way, for now, I've been using a tiny map (just so I can get used to the game), if that matters.

Build settlers until you run out of room to expand. Have 1-2 workers per city, depending on whether you are industrious or not.

The main reason people have trouble with chieftain is because they do not build enough cities and workers.
