Does anyone know how I can contact Sid Meier, or someone else in charge of the development of Civ games? I have tried to contact Firaxis both through their website and on FB, but I have had no reply for weeks. I have searched the web for Sid Meier's email but I can't find anything that works. Perhaps he doesn't want anyone to be able to email him just like that, which is understandable. However my reason for wanting to contact him is that I have some very real ideas for future civ games that I think would be very promising for Civ VI. I do know that the developers at Firaxis appreciate feedback and input from fans, so I don't understand why it should be so difficult to contact them. In this case I really think they would benefit... any ideas what I can do?

Yeah, you and tens of thousands of other civ fans. No offence, but what do bring to the table other than your ideas that would make Sid/Firaxis want to listen to you in particular? Are you a renowned marketing expert? A game designer with impressive credentials? Do you have a brother-in-law with a senior management position at Firaxis? If you want to get their attention, then I suggest you make a hugely popular mod for Civ4 or Civ5 which incorporates some of your ideas.

Say "Sid Meier" three times and he should appear.

The other thing to remember is that if you convince other fans by posting in the suggestions maybe they'll be inspired by your idea and carry it forward in mods or incorporate it in suggestions or whatever.

Christmas holidays. They aren't there.
True... and yet on FB someone is updating regularly.

Tried that one already. Didn't work. :/

And no, I don't have any credentials. And yes, I suppose I could post on the forums. The thing is when I first came up with these ideas (which was rather suddenly) I felt they were so brilliant it was kind of my duty to forward them to the developers. Being unable to do so has been rather frustrating. It's like if you come up with a brilliant idea for a book or play or something, your first impulse isn't to post it on a forum for everyone to read but to show it to someone who could produce it. But if there is no other way, I guess I will *sigh* post it...

No offence, mate, but if you haven't thought things through enough to realise that emailing Sid Meier personally might not be the best way to get your suggestions noted, then I'm not sure that you're going to have thought your suggestions through either.

There is an alternative. Some of the long time fans are members of the beta group and report to the devs directly the best ideas from the forums.

I hear Sid Meier frequents Chat Roulette. Try there.

Archbob - Seriously? Do you have any idea how many turns that would take? Besides, I don't have uranium...

Ah. So I could perhaps PM such a member and hope that they would forward it. But really, I should probably just stop being protective of it and post it on the forums. Then it would have to stand or fall on its own, and if some beta group member would want to forward it to the devs then all the better.

(devs - devas - gods?)

I will rewrite it and then I will post something before the end of the month.

Firaxians are known to peruse the forums, as are people who regularly exchange ideas with Firaxians.

The "Sid Meier's Civilization" page would be maintained by 2K (publisher), not Firaxis (developer). You're more likely to influence things by being active on the popular forums than through contacting 2K.

My sense of it is that your proposal will carry a lot more weight if you

1) show that you know a little about what would be involved in programming it and
2) talk about how it would mesh with all of the games' many sub-systems.

Most proposals are for one thing that the proposer thinks would be kewl, but without consideration for the fact that game designers have to

2) integrate and balance it with all other sub-systems in the game and
1) program it

Good luck. I'll be watching the forums for your proposal, when you get it written up.

I recommend it. If it's the most awesome idea in the world, then convince a mod maker (or yourself) to make a Civ5 mod of the idea. It will definitely be noticed by Firaxis if a million people are playing your mod.

Also I hate to point out, but Sid only designed two of the Civ games: Civ1 and CivRev. Other people designed Civ2/3/4/5.

Why hasn't he posted his ideas yet?

My experience has been that nearly everyone who's said they have a brilliant idea, are the only ones who think it's brilliant.

Though I'll happily be proven wrong. :)
