"Fire" Developer Diary

Just so you know the founder of the Ashen Veil doesn't get an alliance with Hyborem. They just get a diplobonus with him and stuff (open borders).
 
I know, i was speaking of a human controlled Hyborem that teams with another human player, if the human was previously teamed with Hyborem's summoner, then he would be part of an alliance with his summoner. I didn't know teams formed by diplo could be only 2 civs.

If i understand, this means if i'm allied with another human player, and i switch to Hybo, i can't re-ally myself with my former friend as he is already in an alliance with my old civ?

Mhh, still, it does not prevent Hybo-Baba alliance.

A human player founds the veil and switch to Hybo.
As Hybo, he makes an permanent alliance with another human - let's say a neutral civ , (i guess an AI Hybo wouldn't team with anyone).
Now, the neutral-civ player build Mercurian Gate. Basium appears and teams with his summoner, thus teaming with Hyborem at the same time :crazyeye:
 
A while ago there was a bug that caused the summoner of the Avatar of Wrath to declare war on himself (IIRC). You may just automatically go to war with your mortal enemy (which also happens to be your permanent ally).

using magic, its already possible to declare war on your permanent allie(s)
thus, changing your diplomatic relationship from a permanent allaince to a war declaration
 
Is there going to be a Patch Changed list for 2.0 and could we get a glimpse of it before Friday?

I can only imagine how much the face of the game has changed (atleast until Friday... seems so far off though)
 
Will there be some sort of bonus for destroying a barrows? Maybe a unit promotion?...vast treasure trove of gold??...soup bones?

"Not Getting attacked by a Skeleton all the time" -- seems like a pretty good bonus to me. On the other hand, if the skeleton doesn't scare you - don't destroy it and instead Reap the Exp bonus you get from having one nearby.

I'll second the question regarding a Change log - whether one will be coming. If not, that's cool, but if there is then that'd be great also.
 
Yeah I'll probably move the changelog public on Wednesday. Just to give everyone a chance to check out the specifics on what they want to begin playing with on Friday.

Spoilaaaaaaaahr! Sorry, trying to build a student newspaper. Have been working since 15:00, it's now 03:00, third day in a row of this routine. Needless to say, I'm tired. So my brain does stupid things, like this.
 
Congratulations for your great work. Unfortunatly I am travelling and will play the FfH Fire only in March. But I have some questions:

The Elohim gain any bonus from a low Armaggedon counter as the Sheaim gain from a high counter?
How the Armaggedon Spells work with the Armaggedon Counter mechanic? There is new Armaggedon Spells?
Why the team discarded the two maps idea? It was great and the with that the scouting could continue in the late game.
There is any new religion planned for the Fire phase?
Some months ago someone spoke about a mechanic to banish a religion from the game, i believe there was something about avatar-killing and Holy City raids. There was something like that? If yes, it is still planned?
Which new spheres will be included in the Fire phase?
Only fire and ice elemental attacks have any side effects?
Any news about the flyibg mechanic?
Anything changed in the plans for "Shadow" and "Ice" in the Fire phase development?
 
About the Barbarians Heroes which enters he game as soon as XX Armageddon points are reached, is there a pop up like for Orthus or Sailor's Dirge with an image of them which announces that they have entered the game? (I ask just because the pop up of Orthus and Sailor's Dirge were really flavourful and added to my overall immersivity of FfH2.)

I can answer some of your questions:
1. don't know
2. Certain effects happen when the Armageddon counter reaches a level. For example at 100 Blight hits.
3. There are some new Armageddon effects.
4. The two map idea was great, but was not possible to implement.
5. no
6. yes and no. Currently is possible (though hard) to completely remove a religion from the game by use of inquisitors and razing the holy city. Should be the same in fire.
7. don't know
8. don't know. Though many units have multiple damage types.
9. I believe that flying is being treated as using all terrain as roads and being able to fly through mountains.
10. don't know
 
Actually at 100 Armaggedon hits. Blight (Hell Terrain) starts to spread way earlier to evil lands and a little later for neutral.

And there is no flying right now in FfH II, the only "flying" units are the fireball and the griffon I think.
