"Fire" Developer Diary

but i meant for other elements... physical... holy... ect
holy, cold, physical(who knows), resistence promotions,

Yeap, depends on the type. I dont think there is a poison immunity promotion. Instead the demon, golem and undead promotions all give immunity to poison, etc.

Instead of trying to make good or evil win the game, the Grigori could have a unique victory condition where they win the game if less than 33% of the world's population follows a religion after researching Liberalism. It would be an interesting game experience to try and prevent both the polarized good and evil sides of winning. They're a shoot-off from the Angel of Balance after all.

kael has mentioned that religious wars will be implemented in fire(true neutral victory would be very interesting.)

All the new features and aspects are sounding pretty cool but you mentioned a there were a few less flashy changes when you were talking about Wonders. Does this mean things like civics or the tech tree have been changed?

When the civics and tech tree were designed they were designed for all phases. Thats why some of the techs may not make a lot of sense now.

But that doesn't mean we aren't constantly refining things. With Sacrifice the Weak your people only consume 1 food per population point instead of 2.

So things are always being refined, but I have no desire to redo those design aspects.

Basically meaning you can support double as much population and whip double as fast? :hmm: I'll be very surprised to see how and if you got that balanced.

Not exactly. ;) You'll see why in about 2 weeks...

What, you took something else out of Civ3 and used the food penalty given by despotism?

I read in the civilization list in the FfH2 post that Basium's civilization...mercanium people...something like that, anyways it says they are sceduled for release in the fire phase. Any news on them?

The word is "yes", they are in testing right now. I have made a Basium sighting myself. ;)

Wanted to ask whether any new religions have been released (as well as magic spheres)...
Also, can I get a hero named after me? :D
I've started working on a backstory and all. This is what I have so far:

Good job, good job. If we add an Israeli civ, I assure you I will fight for their civ hero to be Jono:D

Well, if we add in a British-Hebrew civilisation (Leader, Benjamin Israeli)(I'm sorry, I had to), I'm definitely going to demand your inclusion as a hero!

What do you mean?

I mean, we've all this nice little tidbits that make joining a religion (Ashen Veil, at least) a gem, not to mention that hell fire will be spreading inwards the neutral lands. The Grigori are perpetually neutral, what've they got to counter Bhall's Fire, not to mention a way to keep both Basium (fanatic hardliner) and Hyborem (who'll just kill anyone) away from their lands?

Edit: I mean, the whole reason for 'Fire' is to make it more possible to polarize the realms between Good and Evil, the Neutrals, (which Grigori epitomize) are just gonna get squelched.

Ahh, no there are 4 civs we are focusing on in Fire. The Infernals, Mercurians, Sheaim and the Bannor. You may see updates and changes to other civs (the team has already made some cool Khazad units) but the main focus is on those 4.

I think the Grigori are a fairly balanced civ, our challenge is to build the Infernals and the Mercurians so that they are equally balanced.

Is that a no to Jono the arctic wolf riding anti-fire hero?
Well, if we create a british-hebrew antifire polar civ (leaders: Benjamin Israeli and Yosef ben-Scott, not to mention fireman Samuel), you're definitely in!

Come on, take me seriously. When fire comes, something needs to balance it out. Doesn't even have to be names after me. A barbarian unit that only attacks fire oriented units in hell.
