"Fire" Developer Diary

All this new stuff sounds downright amazing. It will definitely get me playing Civ again. Well, assuming my ISP lets me DL the beast. Looking forward to the fruit of all your hard work.
Could someone in the USA just send you a CD or data stick with the game on it? I could if noone else does but I'm in Australia is all.

all of the oo water walking units(drown&drown upgrades) have vulnerable to fire...

Yeah what's going to happen to drown/(their upgrade unit) - will they be able as demons to walk on boiling waters or will their vulnerability to fire stop them?

You and me both.

We should start a company together - 100% guarantee of rejection.

I call it "neverware"

"Never gonna get it" should be our jingle.

Sorry, but I am afraid I am going to reject your suggestion of that song for the jingle.

That simple quip brought a smile to my face, anyway.

Alright, but then it defaults back to "I dont get no satisfaction."

Question to the testers:
Are the Infernals and Mercurians winning a reasonable number of games?
Do the infernals get a decent number of starting techs to make up for their lost time?

Basium is doing fine or maybe overpowered. Hyborem is is currently underpowered (in my opinion, but thats what we need to know from you guys). Hyborem starts with all the techs his summoner has.

so we should get some backwards civ to summon him so he starts off crippled?

Thats correct. Games will play out differently every time and there is a big difference between the game leader bringing in Hyborem and the worst player bringing him in.

well, i suggest for the time being "friday i´m in love" :D
but back to topic. friend of mine is concerned with all those strong babarian heroes coming, that the barbarian civs (doviello, clan) might become to powerfull, as they are at peace with the barbs. and what about the (cool) weapon promotions (bronze, iron, mithril)? are they still in?

Its definitly a nice perk that the barb civs dont have to worry about them. But its kind of nice to be against them too (if you can kill them). Not only do you get your typical nice xp boost from killing them but each also turns into a mana node of different types when they die (Stephanos = Mind, Buboes = Spirit, Yersinia = Body and Ars = Death).

Yes, and that model is now used by all civs.

nice!

well, the friend of mine was sort of wetting his pants, imagining (?) being sandwiched between the hordes of spawn barbs and some barbs civs.

can´t wait for the evil sheim/mercurian plans..

Qes, if you are reffering to song by Akon and Sean Biggs, then I'm offering to take pucks place.

@Bad Player, I dont know, barbs are sometimes strong, sometimes not, but you also get to explore without danger of animlas.. but then no early xp. We will see what will change in fire.

Probably, I dont know what though.

Well currently they don't have building prerequisites so maybe their units should also have the normal hammer cost instead of their increased hammer cost? They could have the advantage of capturing cities and being able to produce their stronger units immediately (after the revolt).

I dunno, I put Sheelba in every AI game I play, and every time she is the game leader..

Awesome, for me its the opposite, I always choose the starting civs in the games I play and i always put in Sheelba or Jonas hoping they get strong so I can go Orc hunting, but it turns out they are almost always the weakest civ.

Think I'm gonna start a new one right now, you gave me hope ;)

the last 3 games i played in a row Sheelba was the game leader almost the whole way through
