Anyone thinking about how they'll set up their first game? ;) Might be interesting to see what everyone's planning.

TRIBE: English
OPPONENTS: Zulus for sure, French, Romans, Chinese, Russians sound like a good mix, then maybe 3 random.
CONDITIONS: All victory paths available. All tribe specific rules in effect.
DIFFICULTY: Prince
WORLD: Standard Size, Roving Bands (or equivalent. Don't want too much barb harassment right off the bat), cool, wet, 4 billion years, continents, lowest water setting.

:goodjob:

I'm gonna get killed but..

Germans (ofcourse!)
King
Most tribes possible (I keep hearing you can do 16 on the huge map!)
Raging Hordes (Bring it on!)

Foolish, I know, but why not learn the hard way;)

Romans
chiefton difficulty
large-standard map
regular barbs
7 random civs
all conditions
basically easiest

TRIBE: Russia
OPPONENTS: Germany, Egypt, Babylon, America, England, France, India.
CONDITIONS: All victory paths available. All tribe specific rules in effect.
DIFFICULTY: Prince
WORLD: Standard Size, 60% Water, Continents, Wet, Warm, 5 Billion, Sedentary Barbarians.

I will definitely be starting on Deity with 16 Civs. I won't mind if I get beat badly the first few times.

I wanted to take russians for my first game but after that UU I changed my mind and will take greeks. Scientific to get ahead of the AI fast and Hoplite as a good starting defense. :goodjob:

So it'll be:
Greeks
Chiefain (easy goin please)
Opponents: 7 Random
Standart rules (all wins possible & Civ abilities)
Barbs: Villages only or however that one is calles
World: Standart (It's bigger than a large Civ2 map:eek: )60%water, continents, 6 Billion(or whatever is the longest) temperature and the other thing both normal.

I'll make it a relaxed game so I can test all the new features without getting bashed ;)

Well seeing that no-one at Firaxis can win at Deity yet and they've been play-testing for ages then I think that you'll get your @ss kicked for more than the first few times :D.

TRIBE: Romans of course!!!
DIFFICULTY: Chieftain (I haven't even played CivII or CivI!)
WORLD: Normal (still don't know wich climate...)
OPPONENTS: Random
BARBARIANS: Regular

Can't wait!! :D

TRIBE: Romans
OPPONENTS: Everyone Else.
CONDITIONS: All victory paths available. All tribe specific rules in effect.
DIFFICULTY: Prince
WORLD: Huge Size, 70% Water, Continents, Normal, Temperate, 4 Billion, Raging Barbarians.

And I hope I lose miserably.

Haven't decided which Civ to play but will most likely try the middle difficulty first with all victory paths open.

If there is a CIV III GOTM available when I get Civ III then that will be my first game!

Tribe: Aztec
Difficulty: Warlord
Conditions: Standard (everything normal on, bo rule cutomization)
Opponents: Random
World: Max water, islands, wet, rainy, 6 billion
Barbarians: Highest level

Tribe: Iroquois - I want to build up my culture real fast by building early low cost religious buildings and I will be able to do so because my scout will hopefully be out finding units for me so I don't have to spend time producing them.

Difficulty: Prince - I usually jplay King or Emporer on Civ 2 so Prince should be a good level for my first game.

Conditions: Small to Medium map, Small Continents, Normal resource distribution
Opponents: 4 or 5 random civs for my first game, I can learn more by quicker interaction of a smaller map.
Barbarians: Restless Tirbes, or whatever is considered neutral on scoring.

Tribe - Japanese. I played my first game of Civ2 as the Japanese, so I might as well go with them for my first of Civ3! Also, their skills seem to go nicely with how I play. Can't wait to see the Samurai! :)

Level - Prince...I usally play King/Emperor on Civ2.

Size/Civs - Standard/7 Other Civs. Don't want to make it too complex for a first game!

Opponents: Random

Conditions - Warm, Wet, Continents, 70% Water, 5 billion years, medium or high barbarians.

MY Tribe: America

My Oppenets: All if Possible. If not Rome, Persia, Greece, Russia, France, Germany, Zulu, Egypt

Victory Conditions: By Domination only

Difficulty: Prince

World Size: Huge

Barbarians: Roaming

Continents about 60% water, Wet, Temperate, 5 billion.

TRIBE: Russia (gotta go with expansionist my first time out, just gotta)
OPPONENTS: Random, max # (7?)
RULES: All enabled (standard?)
DIFFICULTY: Warlord (it'll be challenging enough just learning the ropes)
WORLD: Standard or maybe Large, 70% Water, Continents, Normal, Temperate, 5 Billion yrs, Roaming Barbs

I'm dying to play...
Anyone else up for a quick cryo-sleep?

- Stravaig

Civ:Chinese or Finns:)
Difficulty: Warlord (I like it easy)
World size:normal
Barbarians: Raging hordes
Civs:as many as possible
Cool temperature,arid,3 million years

Chieftain Level (so it'll be easiest)
Max Civilizations (so it'll give me plenty of time to learn the game)
Other settings default

My first Civ will probably be Persians. I plan on playing with all of them, though, to get a feel for which one I play best with. I doubt I'll go above Warlord Level until I've narrowed my favorite Civs to about three or four (I imagine different Civs will fare better at different Difficulty levels, so I want to have some flexibility in my choices). After that, the goal is simple, beat the Deity level. Once that is done, I'll probably go buy Civilization 5, cause I'm sure it'll be out by then! ;)

Civ: Greeks (commercial/scientific)
Leader: Ryan M. Sharpe (me, LOL!)
Difficulty: Prince

All normal/random land settings.

Total Civs: Five
Barbs: None
