It's a lot harder than I expected when you just don't have the economic strength of 9 other cities.

I thought diplomatic victory would be the best chance at this point and then realized I don't have no idea how to bring up the relations.

I don't even know how many diplomatic points is considered "friendly".

Diplomatics has always been the weakest part of my game, the save's a bit late. I don't know if the win is going to be very easy or outstandingly difficult. So, some help'd be nice, it's just Noble.

Away from Civ computer, but have a few thoughts.

I find diplo harder. I usually go for space when I do OCC. There are a number of OCC guides in strategy and tips.

How many diplo points is friendly is variable. A general answer would be about +10 but that varies depending upon hidden modifiers, some of which you have no control over. Biggest factor, of course, is religion. Some of the AI's really care what religion you are. Izzy's famous for this, but others like Sal, Zara, etc. are zealots as well. It's hard to get to Friendly without shared religion with a few exceptions, such as those that have FR as favorite civic. A subtle way to get +2 is to vote for somebody in the AP or UN elections when you can't win.

After Biology and the National Park I usually farm and Windmill most tiles to get more specialists. OCC is one of the few times I use Environmentalism for the extra gold from Windmills and Forest Preserves.

Cross-post with Ataxerxes

I think "outstandingly difficult", especially if you're going to be competing against Hatshepsut, as bribing the world into war against Egypt runs the risk of getting a DoW from Egypt in reply (which you might survive if you get Rifling and Assembly Line?). You should be able to win over Boudica if you're sticking with Universal Suffrage when she swaps into it, but it'll take a bit of effort to swing others over. I'm not sure - could be do-able?

There's more than one pathway to victory with OCCs, but running a Representation-based specialist economy (typically by building The Pyramids, farms instead of cottages) while shooting for a space victory is possibly a more conventional approach to win these games, esp. with a Philosophical leader as you have here.

That would make a lot more sense, actually. I was thinking that in normal games specialists won't keep up with cottage spam in the later decades, but it would make sense in a OCC where I'm bottlenecked by tiles.

I guess I will give up with this one and try for specialists next time.

How do I find more on diplo in general though? I can't seem to find a guide about the modifiers and such around, while higher players just seem to "know".

Pwu.380,

There are several threads on AI attitudes and so forth, but I have found oedali's four pdfs in AI Attitude Reference Visuals based on the XML data for the Beyond the Sword expansion and inspired by ori's AI Leaders Personality Matrix to be clear and helpful.

As Ataxerxes noted, there are a lot of OCC guides and demonstration games (use the search facility with "OCC" in the search field and look for the term in the titles of threads in the appropriate forums here), but a couple of interest might be uberfish's A peaceful strategy for OCC space race and Alexfrog's Deity OCC Space Victory: A Guide. Recently the OCC Club has been 'resurrected' in this forum.
