Won my first king game. Science victory on turn 334 or so. I was able to make 2400 points which put me in a ranking of Abe Lincoln. I was curious how can I increase my score further. Also is it possible in harder difficulties to research future tech before the AI can win?

Normally when you follow an specific victory type you don't get a really high score, the victories that give high score are mostly domination and diplomacy, because for both you are going to have a lot of cities

Yeah it is, but the higher it is, luck factors in more often than not.

congrat! Should try culture victory! I find it hard to get more culture points.
I'm afraid raw score is almost entirely land & population based. You pretty much have to conquer a neighbor or two on the way to victory to reach Augustus.
The thing is though that the raw score has little to do with winning either a science or cultural victory.
If none of the AI had started Apollo themselves by the time you won a science victory, your probably ready for Emperor; that's actually a small step. You may even find Emperor easier since the AI will have some more cash for you to get via selling surplus luxuries & resources.

Well that was my first win. But I was able to build GL ND and PT. I also manipulated other civs a few times to go to war to avoid invasions. Also I avoided war after the early one from the ottomans and Egypt. After that everyone was friendly the whole game.
