Fix-It List

After I unsuccessfully tried to install a patch I kept on getting this message:

Application could not not start because D3DX_32.DLL was not found. Re-installing may fix the problem.

But I also cannot uninstall the game because when I try to do that it says that some files have not finished downloading and that they need to be finished before I can uninstall.

Any help would be AWSOME - Thanks

This is an infuriatingly bizarre problem that I've been having. When I go to connect online in Civ 4, it doesn't work. To be a bit more specific, it does nothing. If I fill in my username and password and hit enter, the game stalls for a couple seconds and then returns to normal... except I'm still at the log in screen and not in the lobby. This hopefully has an easy fix, because otherwise I'm not sure how to solve such a simply impossible problem. Its like the "log in" button doesn't do anything! I get the same reaction when I try to make a new account as well, so its not because of my account or anything. It is so strange!

When I start of the game I get an error messages that says error loading shader libraries - how can I fix this problem?

Help! I have the 3 in one pack and installed successfully. Civ 4 vanilla runs and plays properly, and so does Warlords. The problem is with BTS, in that there is no mouse pointer, although moving the mouse does activate some of the items on screen. I have installed in an ASUS notebook, and using the inbuilt pointer device. Any clues as to how to fix this?

I am a total computer duh, but will try to answer. The pointer device is one of those lousy 2 button pad inbuilt into the notebook. Kind of like you have a flat panel and you just move your finger on it to move the mouse. Since it is inbuilt, I figure the driver software must also be inbuilt.

The notebook that I have is similar to the first notebook on the left shown on this site:

A bummer because I want to try the After War mod with OCC to get the goodies at the end!

well - some of those pointers use the standard mouse drivers that come with windows - while some come with their own drivers. you might want to check your vendor's homepage.
I had similar problems with a different program until I used updated drivers for my laptop's pointer...

if you post the name of your notebook, i.e. the model I might be able to look it up too...

Ori, maybe you can help me out as well or anybody else..
So I have 3.17 and have been playing rtw for some time I believe I am on turn 125, then it decides to bring up an error pop up and will not let me continue my game. This is upsetting as how much time I put into it obviously. I updated my drivers, my directX and just simply reinstalling everything including trying to holding down shift as it starts. As being not that knowledgeable as you guys are on computer programing I hope someone can help me solve my problem.
I enabled logging so I have those but am not sure which ones in particular I should post?? As I mentioned I kept my saved game and did all of the above and it still brings up an error after I clique for the next turn. Help please?

what does the error say?
also: just post the complete logs folder as a zip file. attach files to a post by clicking on go advanced then on manage attachments :)

Thank you Ori! The notebook is ASUS model W7Sseries.

there are 5 different notebooks in this series - each with their own drivers for the touchpad...

which one is yours?

Here are my logs, the error was in a windows pop up the one that gives you the option to Debug.

How do I take a screen shot? I tried while the report was up but it wouldn't let me take it only the default windows noise would happen.

Ori, I have to figure it out, I cannot print when its up nor save the image. The windows default sound comes up each time as I try. I also tried looking for where it was placed on my hard drive and cannot find it and I have changed the option to show hidden files/folders. So just bear with me and Ill try and figure out how to get the error report up.

what I meant was hit the print key on your keyboard - often also called
prnt scrn
then close the error message and open a graphics program - the screenshot will be held in the windows cache until you copy/paste something else so you have all the time to paste it into your graphics program and save :)
