:hmm:
this is an error I have not seen before for civ - there is an old hotfix for some applications that cause this on microsoft's homepage. But that pertains to Visual Basic applications... Do you have any other programs running at the same time as civilization? can you turn them off? does it crash then as well?

I dont see why it would do this considering it's on turn 125 and has been fine during those turns then all of a sudden this happens.. I tried running it in safe mode but it wouldnt start up..I am not sure as to what application could be causing the problem if that is the case. So whats next for me to do, check with CIV Tech Support and send them the error report?

I want to start another game in rtw war but it's discourage due to the fact of this happening again..this pretty much is going to lead me away from CIV and to another game..

there are 5 different notebooks in this series - each with their own drivers for the touchpad...

safe mode won't work because it kills a lot of drivers - but is there any antivir/firewall software or the like running - which you could disable after disconnecting from the internet?
you could contact take2 they are responsible for the tech support - their homepage has a support form where you can send your problems.
For your information: the error code for the crash is

0xc0000094 Integer divide by zero exception

there are two drivers on the asus homepage - one from may07 and one from september07 - the first is for vista the other for xp - though judging from your version number you should already have those. still trying an install should not hurt.

Alright I sent 2k my problem and error reports, haven't heard from them yet but hope they can fix it. I'll try disabling such programs as mentioned and see what happens.

I already have civ installed on one of my computers and it works well already. I tried to install it on my labtop today and when I put the second disc in on the installation and click ok on the "setup needs the next disc" it freezes. I'm not quite sure what to do. I've tried to work it over and over again and it doesn't change.

I got Civ 4 complete the other day and it installed with no problems. Its only when i load the game does a problem occour. The games loads grand and everything but the problem is the screen keeps flashing. If any one can help it will be much appreciated. Im using Windows vista and i got the computer for christmas last year if that info helps

In the demo version of Civ4, the map is all black! I'm not sure if it's just the demo version or if it's my computer and the full version of the game wouldn't work. Does anyone have any insight into this? I'm DYING to buy the game, and I it doesn't work I'll be devastated...

Turns out its actually my saved game that is corrupted. I have no idea how this would of happened but wow does it suck. Oh well at least now I have all updated drivers thanks to the troubleshooting process.

Thanks much for the help ORI!:goodjob:

Welcome to CFC :band:

the demo should not be black. What are your system specs?

Intel 8265G 96.0MB Graphics Controller

Is that any more help? I appreciate this!

EDIT: Remember, only the map is black. Everything else works fine. However, when I zoom out all the way to a top-down view I can see everything just fine (except for my units of course).

My graphics card ruins every game!!! It's terrible! I can't run any games that came out since 2004 or so! This SERIOUSLY is HORRIBLE.

Groan!! I just updated the driver, same problem. Then I switch to another mouse using the USB port, same problem!! The problem is that the mouse pointer does not show up on screen, but if I move the mouse around I can see "mousing over" effects on the screen. Funny part is that Warlords and vanilla are fine, just the damn BtS. Some graphics problem perhaps??
