i have a problem, when the map loads its black, also when im at the "choose your leader" part all it shows is the person's eyes, im confused and need help:confused:
 
I had vanilla the original Civ IV installed and i never had any problems. But then i finally got BtS and installed it, and now it wont start. every time i try to start up the game it keeps giving me this message:
"ailed to start because
BOOST_PYTHON-VC71-MT-1_32.DLL was not found. Re-reinstalling this application may fix this problem."

I've reinstalled it several times, and the BOOST_PYTHON-VC71-MT-1_32.DLL seems tobe in the right place, the folders it was downloaded into. I dont know what to do and its really annoying because i've been waiting for this for awhile. What do I do?:cry:
 
I loaded the game from disks. I chose the search for updates option, and the game found one and loaded it. When I tried to start, it said that a dll file was missing and I would have to re-install the game. I reinstalled the disks. Is this a known problem? How do I get around it?
 
what dll file was missing - I guess its the one linked below - and no it was not telling you to reinstall the game, actually it was windows telling you to reinstall directx ;)

@7stargeneral:
the python error has occurred numerous times - search for that here and you'll get tons of threads on it. I do not remember if there was a fix though and am currently too busy to search myself :sad:
 
Ok I am getting too much lag in this game and wish to reduce it to down to hardly no lag. Here are my specs:

Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium
RAM: 2 GB
Hard-Drive Space: 500 GB
Video Card: Radeon X1300 w/ 512 MB DDR2
Sound Card: On-Board
Processer: Intel Pentium 4 Processer
CPU: 3.00 GHz
PC Case: Dell Dimension E510
Power Supply: 500 W

What do I need to do to get rid of the lag? I'm currently going to upgrade my computer to something like this:

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD4870 x2
Power Supply: 750 W
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4
Processer: AMD Phetom 9850 (Quad Core)
CPU: 2.50 GHz
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
PC Case: Antec 900

I'm having the same problem! Can anyone help?

I tried downloading one of the updates from the advanced part of the menu and now when I try to launch all i get is...

"This application has failed to start because D3DX9_32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I'm getting increasingly frustrated, please help me! :-)

Ok so I've sorted the DLL problem based on other posts I've seen on here but my map is still black when I get into the game?? The choose your leader part is fine but why is my map still black?? HELP!!
 
I tried to download the DLL and nothing seemed to happen so I updated DirectX. I can now get onto the game but as I say the map is still black.

Which part of the dxdiag results do you need? System information?

bad news :sad:
your graphics driver is :old: - you could try installing a newer one (link - make sure this is for your card!)
however your card MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP AGP
does not support hardware Transform and Lightning (TnL) and your computer is too low on memory - only having 256MB to run Windows XP and the game - of which the graphics card eats 64MB... I doubt it will run frankly :sad: :(

It used to work until my laptop died and I had to have it repaired.

Hmmm, dont know what to do now....

hey I just downloaded a patch for civilization 4 and the game wont start any more it is the v1.61 Patch any suggestions??
 
Hi,

Although an experienced gamer I am new this forum. I have recently purchased Civilization 4 version 161 which bought as a download from GamesPlanet.com. My computer spec is:

1.8Ghz processor, 2G RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M, Windows Vista 32 bit

Having installed the game it would not seem to load. The intialization process would start and then the civ 4 cursor comes up but it never starts and my task manager informs me the program is not responding. In anticipation of a compatibility problem I have tried opening it using the windows xp service pack 2 (including trying Windows 95 and 98), disabling visual themes and desktop composition and by running it as an administrator but to no avail. Have checked my firewall and that's not stopping it.

I have also installed RivaTuner and nVHardPage. I have updated my drivers, including the latest forceware for my graphics card. I have also installed the latest patch for the current version of the game. None of these changes have enabled the game to load. The only thing I haven't done is uninstalled and re-installed it. However before I do is there anyon else who had experienced the same problem and do they know a solution to it? Or any othe experienced gamer who might recommend a solution worth trying. Further to that I would welcome any other suggestions.
