Flic Editor for Mac?

Does anyone know of a Mac utility that can edit flics - change frame duration, add/delete frames etc?

GraphicConverter by Lemke can open them, but I've no ideal whether it's capable of editing them.

I did read somewhere that the unit animation flics have a non-standard way of concatenating the eight separate directions of movement into one file, and I think building those files may need a special utility. If so I doubt if it exists for Mac OS.

Graphic Converter 4.9 came bundled with my Powerbook and even though I have Photoshop CS I couldn't live without it. Brilliant piece of software. Sadly, though it can open Flics, they can't be edited (they can, but they can't be saved as flics).

I think it's up to v5.6 these days but that version doesn't seem to be able to edit/export flics yet either. Oh well.

Can the GIMP handle them? I had a look on the Gimp site but couldn't find out anything about flics. I can't really justify a 50mb download just in case it does.

I don't know about GIMP. As I have a high speed link with no capacity capping I can d/l it and check. I'll let you know

I downloaded The GIMP from here and installed it. It looks pretty impressive just at a quick glance. It opens a leaderhead .flc, and can display it as an animation. You can play with the individual frames, and it will Save As ... an "Autodesk FLIC Animation". The bad news is it doesn't seem to be able to open Unit animations in the same way, and does a worse job with them than GraphicConverter, as it doesn't even display them properly. They appear as 8 frames, each containing a small set of pixels. I suspect this is because of the way the peculiar way thse files are structured, as I indicated above.

So it looks like it might work for leaderheads, but not for Units.

Thanks for the info/test Alan! A shame about the unit flics, but at this stage I was mainly wanting it for LHs anyway (to fix timing, palettes, and general tweaking). I shall download it.
