Flickering Cursor

I try and play Civilization 4 but when i play it my cursor flickers, I have:

XP, service pack 2
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family
Intel Duo Centrino, 1.83 GHz
and 1 GB of RAM

Now i checked some other forums regarding this problem but I don't have special cursors or cursor trails. I also tried switching resolutions and going to the desktop and back to the game (which was recommended in one of the forums). If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Turn down your Hardware Acceleration

Under Desktop Properties>Settings>Advanced, then click the Troubleshooting tab.

Experiment moving the slider back one notch at a time (pressing Apply each time) until all cursor flicker stops
