Follow On Game Idea: After Contact

Since there is a Contact victory option, it makes sense to me to have either a BE expansion or a new game that capitalizes on that and takes the player into a future where we encounter Sentient Aliens on other planets we are trying to colonize. Admittedly, they might well be OP compared to humans, but it could also be we could find allies and friendly trading partners of various species/races.

I'm not thinking a 4X classic multi-planetary game (unlike my previous follow on game thread) but more a type of BE single-planet variant that introduces new planets and sentient lifeforms.
