FOR UNITMANIA FANS: Conquests/Complete update underway!

Most iconic would be some kind of naked fanatics (Gaestati/Gailianna/Solduri/Pretani fanatics)

That's basically what the Woad Raider was intended to be. Which name would you recommend the highest?

Gaestati, but only if you are replacing the gallic swordsmen, because it would be best as a swordsman replacement and it would be better to have an ancient UU and a medieval UU since Celts have been around a while.

How about Gaestati and a Highlander(as a med inf unit). Highlanders seem popular...

Mmmph...I like the Gallic Swordsman, the idea that he's supposed to be a noble and all, so maybe not.

Highlander, eh? That might work...I think it may be time to post a new copy of that ballot, too...

Well, at the risk of offending people by reviving an ancient thread...I'm back, and resuming work on this mod again, believe it or not. As a matter of fact, I just came up with what I think is a good idea for a conjectural second Maya UU...

A (probably long) while back I was reading some forum thread or other on a topic similar to this which posed the question: What if someone (the Maya being debatably the best candidate for this thanks to the UU they already have) had continued developing the technology behind the atl-atl similar to how the bow had evolved? The idea I came up with was sort of an inverse crossbow, that I've tentatively dubbed the Lancethrower: Take your standard atl-atl, extend both it and the javelin a bit (and tip the javelin with steel, of course, since your smiths have figured out how to make it by then), and add a crossbow-style cable and trigger but backward - thus the technique would be basically identical to the oldskool atl-atl but with the trigger being pulled at the release point, generating extra velocity and thus penetration. Thoughts?

Saracen shouldn't be a UU. "Saracen" was a blanket term used by Europeans to describe Muslims of several different ethnicities. It was not a military unit.

Why is it in Civ4, then?

You'd have to ask the makers of Civ4. I will say that there are many things about Civ4 that disappointed me. I hadn't noticed that they made a "Saracen" military unit, though. If so, it's another problem on a long list.

I'm just trying to be helpful. A Saracen is a Muslim man, woman or child from one of many ethnicities stretching across the southern Mediterranean from Spain to the Levant. It is not a military unit. Europeans used to use the term "Saracen" to describe Muslims just as they used the term "Moor."
