Forbidden Palace Location #1

I wouls suggest placing a FP in a city that has a lot of production shields that is away from our capital :).

True.

May I suggest we build a FP in New Falcon's Nest.

Are there any other comments on the Palace move/FP build plan? I have used this frequently in my own games and it can make a large difference once the two centers are where you want them.

Yes, I would like to see approximate bulid times, how much we would have to stunt the growth of Bremershaven to complete the build, and generally discuss your interesting idea a bit more. This is a subject that will require a lot od discussion.

OK, not a problem. Maybe some of the OTHER citizens have a thought about this...?

EDIT: Why do I always feel like I'm impersonating Sam Kinison whenever I post in the Citizens sub-forum?

Straight build through despotism is 25 turns. Anarchy plus Monarchy should total 28 turns. 29 total turns if we don't declare anarchy for 7 more turns. These are with a switch now while we have 16 shields in production and assume we will have one worker to build improvements ahead of city growth.

That's great information, Shaitan. Let me double-check your figures. I gues we can do what we want on this issue as it's ONLY A SMALL WONDER! No one else seems to care. Down, Sam, down..

OK, I've looked at the save, and with growth (which shouldn't be a problem with all the lux's we have) it does look like about 28 turns, IF we switch now, which I think is an ill-planned move. The building of the FP should wait until after we become a Monarchy. We definitely need the Horseman it's building now. That one and the one Bavaria can give us in 4 will be good reinforcements. Right now everyone knows what we have (as far as units go) on the Japanese border. With the Pikeman being built in Tlaxcala going to Eklektochtitlan, we can have 2 Horsemen, and 3 Swordsmen on the way to Japan. then in 4 have the two new Horsemen on the way as back up. This means the FP, which would be excellently placed in Bremershaven needs to wait until after our switch in Government if it is to happen at all.

Ok, may I join the discussion between you two? ;)

Logistically, it sounds like a great idea. The two issues I have with it are one of priority and one of aesthetics.

1. Priority- Shouldn't we use our first GL to swipe Sun Tzu from the Japanese? It would immediately put barracks in every captured city, allowing our wounded units to heal quickly and strike again. In addition, I think the corruption won't be as harsh once we get into Monarchy so the need to put the FP in front of other wonders won't be as dire. I can't see why nobody is salivating over the prospect of getting the Sistine Chapel in the future. Sure, cathedrals seem like a pipedream now in our culture-barren society but when our cities start hitting size 13 and 14(and they will), folks will be clamoring for cathedrals and wishing that they were doubly effective. Then I will gladly link to this post for all the 20/20 hindsighters who will be lamenting about after it is too late.

2. Aesthetics- It's the way I've always played the game, but I think the capital should always be near the homeland, and never put in territories that weren't ours to begin with. However, I am personally fine with putting the FP in Japan and still believe that that is the best path. Once again, this is purely a personal detail that may not best achieve our objective of winning the game but you wanted my opinion and here it is.

Question: If we move the palace from Bavaria to anywhere, do the culture points from that palace stop in their tracks or get eliminated altogether?

The Japs completing Sun Tzu would definately be a plus, I really want this war to go well but I won't get my hopes up.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on this Japanese war.
