Forcing 1920x1080 on a 1920x1200 monitor

Hello,

As I'm planning to upload Civ V videos to YouTube I wanted to make the game run at 1920x1080 (16:9) because that is the best/what you're supposed to upload to YT (since most people have a 16:9 monitor). My monitor though actually has 1920x1200 pixels (16:10). Not much of an issue you think as I could just set my graphic driver (AMD card) to respect the aspect ratio of whatever it is being told without rescaling it to the full panel size. I do this with success in other games like for e.g. StarCraft II.
Civ V however somehow ignores what my graphic driver says (how is that even possible?); if I set the resolution in the options to 1920x1080 it will stretch them to 1920x1200 instead of adding black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen.
And that is simply horrible. :rolleyes:

Now I did search for some options in the GraphicsSettingsDX11.ini which might be helpful and there actually were two:
; Controls formatting for displays not matching target aspect. (0 => maintain widescreen FOV. 1 => No letterbox)
AspectAdjust = 0.000000

0 should already be the correct setting. However it doesn't matter if I put 0, 0.000000 or 1 there. It doesn't do anything. :goodjob:
And now guess what the following does:
WindowResX = 1920
WindowResY = 1080

Absolutely nothing. Or well just the same as setting it ingame to 16:9 - keeps stretching it to 16:10. :crazyeye:

Is there any way I can play this game with 1920x1080 on my 1920x1200 monitor?

PS: Can't resist to mention how disappointed I am by the amount of bugs and inconveniences this game throws at the users as well as the fact that hardly anything of it has been addressed in nearly two years after the release despite it actually selling really good. I hope though I am not the only person that will be wary when I see anything labeled with 'Firaxis' in the future. :nuke:

It is YouTube, almost nobody (if anyone) is going to watch it fullscreen so whether or not their monitor is 16:9 is rather irrelvant, and YouTube has standardized sizes for the uploaded videos regardless of what ratio they were filmed in...

Oh really? I doubt anyone is watching a video of this kind (civ LP or whatever) not full-screened, as you would not be able to see anything if you didn't. Of course yt works fine with 1920x1200 videos, however everyone watching it with a 16:9 monitor will have black bars left and right and I want to avoid that.

The problem Civ V is causing remains.
