Was that mainly bitterness about the political battle he lost when Maggie entered the field, or did he seriously think the Iron Lady screwed up that hard?
Of course he was a Tory Prime Minister. But he was ousted from leadership by Thatcher who promptly threw out a lot of his policies. He refused to serve in her cabinet and they were enemies from that point onwards.
The thing that amuses me is that politically he was to the left of Tony Blair on most issues too which shows how far to the right our current "Labour" government really is
A decent man and a staunch anti-fascist who campaigned against appeasement with Germany in the 1930's, served his country in WWII and fired Enoch Powell after the infamous "Rivers of Blood speech".
