Forum popups again...

For some weird reason, as soon as I posted this thread I stopped getting the popups!

Can't say I'm complaining though...

One is almost tempted to ask how you all are getting them. But I have on occasion gotten them. Less than a handful since I started seriously browsing here, maybe Oct, 2002.

Good to know how to get the source and pass it on. Sigh. . .when I win the lottery, I'll buy TF a server all his own. . .

To get around the upload problem, turn off you blocker, click the upload link. Then (in IE) press ctrl+D to add the upload page to your favourites. You can then use the shortcut to get to to the upload page, allowing you to use the popup blocker.

I do turn off my popup blocker when I use the upload function, but I never thought of making it one of my favorites, Thanks Anarres!

On my wife's computer, she turns off the pop up blocker off when she uses it. I don't always turn it back on since I don't get that many pop up ads.

What I have noticed is that I sometimes get them on pages other than the front page. It is rare, but it does happen, and the only browser open is CFC. I haven't figured out the trigger yet. It tends to be the same ads as I get on the main page, and I always close those if they show up.

I use Opera, as well as IE and Netscape. Currently, I have Opera and IE both open.

Some sites are not fully compatible with Opera yet even though most are.

I got it entering the main page. Anyway, it was very annoying. Should earn the "worst-pop-up-ever" award.

I've had maybe 50 or 60 popups in the forums today.

Ever since I registered here (in August 2002), I've only gotten a few popups in the forums (and I forgot to look for their source). I think some people (for example, anarres) are getting "forums" confused with "main page." Popups are supposed to pop up just about every time you visit a page on the main CFC site (whether it's the true main page, or the War Academy, or Nonsense Tavern, etc.). They are NOT supposed to pop up in the forums. If they do, be sure to catch the little traitors!

@WildFire: Man, I hate that pop up! Almost makes me want to spend money on Opera to avoid getting pop ups! (No wait, it doesn't, since I'm so cheap. )

Well, the clock & the survey do pop in the forums. Wildfire's "really uncool guy" seems to pop up on the main page only.

I am 27, I work as a programmer, including some web development. I am admin for another forum.

I know the difference between the main page and the forum pages!!!!!

I think you are getting "stupid kid" confused with "normal person".

Really, you'd have to be a complete monkey not to be able to realise the difference!!

For the last two days, I get constant (every few minutes) popups in the fora - mainly BT - and like Anarres, I know the difference between the main site and the forum
