Not sure if anyones had a problem getting to the LAN multiplayer lobby, but just in case...
Been playing civ 4 without a problem for a while (ATI 9500PRO, 1Gb RAM, AMD XP 2200). My mate brought his PC over so we could play a LAN game (ATI 9600PRO, 1Gb RAM, XP 2400 - he had a problem with corrupted graphics but installing the latest drivers from the graphics card maker - Gigabyte - reinstalling direct x and switching off the SMARTGART setting under display properties -> settings -> advanced worked).
Anyway, I went to the LAN lobby no problem, his locked up so the mouse still moved but you couldn't access anything - couldn't even get to the desktop. Needed a nasty reboot.
The problem was with the Norton 2006 Internet Security (I warned him about it....). I had to manually add Civ 4 in to the list (personal Firewall->Configure->Programs->Add, select Civ4.exe from your installation folder) and all worked fine. Of course I had no problems with my AVG AV and Sygate Firewall (RIP).
