connect the iron to your road network. Now you can..... overseas can be difficult since early on you need a connection via coastal tiles or the great lighthouse (turns sea squares into coastal for the owner)

enemy influence cuts trade routes, so be sure to have roads around that (via friendly territory for example)

Same thing happened to me lately. I destroyed the Romans, but on message came up to tell me so... I could see the entire map. I could not get in contact with them. I even tried the multi-bug-thing to see if i was missing something.
Finally i detect a roman vessel... This vessel only contains a spearman. So i sink this vessel and an error appears and i get thrown out of the game! Tried this 3 times, same result. So i loaded once more and waited.

After many turns this vessel unloads a settler... Builds a city. Which i raze two turns later :) It wasn´t untill then that my advisor told me the romans were destroyed and the war was over. :)

I was wondering if its a good idea to have cites overlap. I know it leads to unhappiness but it slows down population growth which is sometimes a good thing.
Whats your opinion on that.

The farther a city is from a government center (palace or forbidden palace), the denser the build should be. You want low density for maximum city potential for the cities that will be effective producers. Packing a load of cities at the high corruption distance will help immesurably in despotism, monarchy and communism as they increase your free units. In the higher governments they generate some revenue. In all governments they can be a huge culture advantage.

Whenever i research nationality the game just freezes!Help PLEase!
Most likely causes are an invalid edit in civilopedia.txt or pediaicons.txt for the Nationality tech or Rifleman unit. Could also be a bad entry in rifleman.ini in the Art/Units/Rifleman folder.

I was browsing through the Stories and Tales section and they always start by saying "I changed the T/S/L rate to blah blah" How do you do that and what does it mean?

It's the Tax / Science / Luxary Rate they are talking about... they can be changed in the F1 screen.

Hi,

jaran:
No, you can't upgrade units in an army, you can't unload them or anything. Once they are loaded, they will remain there until the army is destroyed. So use them while you can :))

After you build the Military Academy, you should be able to build an Army just as you can build a unit, but only in the City where you built Military Academy.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Parthicus
I don't know if this was already said, but you CAN build armies in other cities besides the one with the military academy. I know this from experience.:D

Has Precision Bombing been fixed in v. 1.17f? I still can't seem to get it to work and I noticed that someone (sorry, forget who) made available a 2-page list of commands for CIV3 and Precision Bombing wasn't listed (although it is "P" in the civ-o-pedia).

Am I to understand it is still broken?

If so, is this because the AI needs to be programmed to better understand how to use it?

what??? when??? how???? why?????

I never could! I only could change a leader into an army in any city, but building an army from scratch - no way!

You can build armies form scratch, but only in the city where you build the Small Wonder. Not possible in any other city.

I guess the experience was based on hallucogenic stuff...
or combined with Korsakov-syndrome. :b:beer:

Yes, you can. I was playing as Japan, and York built a military academy. I had everything in Kyoto, and I could build armies. I know I'm not stupid  and no, I was NOT high  :smoke:

You can only build armies from scratch in the city you built the Military Academy.

But you can also build armies when using Leaders, in every city.

But you can't build armies from scratch in cities without the Mil. Academy.

That's a fact, if you can, then there is something wrong with your game, or you have installed a Mod that let's you do that, and *cough* forgot it...

I know that I and everybody else here hasn't been :smoke:

Does the happen to any one??

When ever I reach the Industrial age, a small yellow dot ( it almost looks like a tiny sun ) appears. What is it? does it mean the game is about to end?? Does it have to do with pollution??

Two questions:

1. How do I see other Civs total culture points at any given time?

I want to be able to compare them to mine so that I can do some statistical analysis. Therefore, it doesn’t matter, it it is a cheat or something. I already tried the “multi” savegame cheat, but I still cannot find anywhere that info about the other Civs.

2. How to make Civ3 name *by default* the savegame file in a different way than the usual?
Example: "1230AD.sav" instead of "Caesar King from Romans, 1230Ad.sav".

Thanks in advance.
