I call CHEAT! mikeyia is playing a modded version of the game that allows mercenaries!

hey - no worries. My only concern is that your ex-units don't survive the battle. I hope you are getting some payment for them.

I'm playing in another PBEM game with tech trading on and the humans playing the game managed to get around that. I traded an IOU for a tech and then traded the IOU to a 3rd player who traded that IOU for another tech with the person that issued the IOU.

Trade 1: Tech A (Player 1) for IOU (Player 2) - so P1 holds a beaker IOU from P2
Trade 2: IOU (Player 1) for Tech B (Player 3) - P1 trades IOU to P3
Trade 3: IOU (Player 3) for Tech C (Player 2) - P3 trades IOU back to P2 for tech

Effectively, I converted an IOU into a tech instrument and created a market for it. The hard part was getting Player 2 to accept their own IOU from Player 3. Shortly there after, we had a beaker liquidity crunch with the resulting Global Beaker Crisis .
