From King to Prime Minister

This may be just my problem, but it seems to me that it's virtually impossible to go from monarchy to republic on deity level without having Mike's Chapel.

The problem is that if i try to do the revolution before i aquire Monotheism, the corruption/unhappiness kicks in at higher than "possible to contain" levels.

Is there any trick to this ting, or do i have to build Cathedrals everywhere?

I don't really know, I don't really play at diety level. but you could try this:

build temples right when you get ceremonial burial, and convert as many citizens as you can to entertainers. this means make a lot of irrigation, to supply food that you lose when you convert citizens to entertainers. then, when you want to change to republic, there won't be as much unhappiness. also, station 2 or 3 units in each city. you could also raise the luxury rate.

Best way is to increase the luxury "cups" by increasing trade arrows.
1.trade routes
2.markets
3.banks
to celebrate to 12 you need a cathedral or colliseum.Colliseum is more likely as Construction(aquaducts) is needed before Mono.
past size 13 or so you need both to celebrate.NOT to maintain contentness,but to celebrate.
Later,stock exchanges should keep luxuries at 10%Maybe 20.After superhighways,unhappiness is not a factor.It becomes hard NOT to celebrate.

Try building court houses. They lower corruption.

Yep. And don't forget: BUILD ROADS on all grassland and plains in the city area (+1 trade)!

I think this is the single most important thing to do first. Before irrigation, temples, whatever.

Nah, too much work.

Getting to monotheism isn't that hard. Only a few techs. Mike's chapel? A sinch. Half a dozen caravans and 300 bucks will do.
