First forum post.

I'm looking for the correct order of install for no civ to BUG/BAT install.

Civ IV Disc 1 and 2
1.61 Patch
1.74 Patch
Warlords
2.13 Patch
BTS Disc 1 and 2
BTS 3.17 Patch
Solver Patch Installer (not as a mod option)
BUG Installer (not as a mod option)
BAT Installer (not as a mod option)

I did all of that and got an error on startup. I thought it was perhaps due to the solver patch, but it appears that the solver patch is ok to use with BUG/BAT.

Welcome to CFC! :goodjob:

My guess is from conflicting files with the BUG and BAT installers. You only need the BAT installer, as it includes BUG already. So, try uninstalling BUG, then, if that doesn't work, try uninstalling BAT and then re-installing it.

What the other guys have said is true, but it doesn't matter if you installed both BUG and BAT. If you used the installer there is no Non-Mod install option for BAT. There is standard, which installs in a mod directory, or Autostart, which will add a line to your Civilization.ini file to autostart BAT.

Now, can you tell me what error message you got? If it was a Python error, then check your log folder for a file called PythonErr.log and paste the contents of that to the forum.

When you installed BAT did you choose the 3.17 or 3.13 option for install?

Also if you used Solvers then do not use any python files that came with it. Just the .DLL file. The python fixes that Solver has put in his patch are included in BUG & BAt already, so are not need. Just the DLL. You may need to reinstall the Solver patch.

Ok, I'm up and running.

I uninstalled BTS

I reinstalled BTS
3.17 Patch
Solver Patch Installer (same options as before, replacing core files)
BAT with autostart (there were four options at installation)

That worked like a charm. The only difference between this install and the last was that I installed BUG and then BAT.

I don't really understand the basic terms of mod installation. This is why I said non-mod mode. I couldn't quite understand the difference between the two groups of install options with the BAT installer.

When you install something as a mod, saved games played using it will be tied to the mod.

When you install in CustomAssets, it affects all non-mod games. You can wipe CustomAssets and continue playing the saved games. If you uninstall a mod, you cannot play the games started with it.

If you always use BAT or BUG, either way work just fine. But if you play in succession or other multiplayer games, installing in CustomAssets lets you use BUG without requiring everyone else to use it as well.

Who would want to play without BUG? I have never met this mythical person. ;)

Yesterday I've finally started to update English help files cleaning a bit the ugly html code generated by OpenOffice (to make it w3c-standard too much time is required (maybe later), but at least now it can be read without headache ;) ) and, more important, adding into them the additional info and explanation that I already included into ITA help files.
One of this additional info is about these differences.

BTW, when the work will be finished (or even before it), I'll be grateful if somebody (not necessarily a BUG Team member) can check those files looking for some grammar or synthax error... I'm trying to be more careful than when I write here :D but still English is not my mother language, so...

Thanks all. I love the graphics upgrade. I installed blue marble last night for an even better experience. I really enjoy BUG features as well. The messages and notifications make game play a lot more enjoyable.
