First and foremost I'd like to say i have looked over alot of the 'required reading' in order to ensure what I am posting isn't redundant. I couldnt find anything of my particular sort, so I apologize in advance if it has been previously addressed. I'd also like to thank everyone involved in this project for making what I consider the absolute best mod (if not game) ive ever played. I can get lost for many hours on this fantastic game!

Getting to the point. Obviously my problem deals with crashing. It is particularly common when I play Fall Further 0.42. What is most frustrating, is that it only begins to happen in very matured games where i have 250+ turns underway. Its simillar to willgar's crashing complaint in a thread earlier than mine. Only difference is no amount of deletes or experiments spare me the agony of crashing sooner or later.

So far, ive updated my drivers, ran dozens of deleting experiments with the worldbuilder, tried without events and with random seed on reload. Its tremendously frustrating to not be able to finish a game ever. What is also wierd is that sometimes if I reload an ooold autosave, i can get past that point, but then is just innevitably happens more frequently later down the road.

Anybody know whats up?

(Its always at the best part too!!! like when rathus denmora of sidar is about to kill alakzahn the assassin and pack a netherblade/black mirror punch!)

PS. I also wanted to inquire as to whether or not anybody else has noticed that while this modmod is loaded, absolutely every civ (except bannor) eventually decends into neutral/evil alignment? i cant tell you how annoying it is to play as a good civ when everyone else is evil and attempting to kill you cuz your score is high.

Sorry of the long post. Thanks in advance.

I feel your pain Azael but i fixed my problem with a radical solution.

1) I created a new clean partition on my hard disk
2) i installed a fresh copy of XP on that partition
3) i patched XP and all drivers (graphics, sound, etc)
4) i installed Civ 4
5) i installed BTS
6) patched both Civ and BTS
7) installed FfH2
8) patched FfH2
9) installed ff & patched ff
10) INSTALLED NOTHING ELSE OR MADE ANY OTHER SYSTEM CHANGES

If you go down this path, remember to "lock" your drive letter assignments otherwise switching between different OS boots can sometimes change letters. This is simple to do via control panel / performance & maintaince / admin tools / computer managment /storage (or you can use a app like partition magic)

I know this sounds a bit extreme but untill i did this, i kept having problems which nobody else seemed to be able to verify. If save games work on somebody else's machine, then it must be your system. I still use my old boot partition for other games, web browseing etc but my FfH boot partition is clean (no AV and no non essential background tasks)

It works fine now - i get very very rare crashes but a reload will normally sort it out.

Are you running Vista? FF 42 is based on FfH 33. In FfH 34 there is a fix for the flame graphics which is known to cause CtDs. FF 43 (which will be based on ffH 34) is scheduled for Nov 1st, according to the thread in the FF Forums, and may fix some of your anomalous crashes.

As for the slide towards Neutral / Evil, this is a side effect of the scalar alignment system. Because many of the events reward Evil behaviour instantly and the AI isn't much cop at role-playing, there tends to be a gradual slide in that direction.

Which Patch were you using? There was a fairly significant crash issue resolved in Patch M (which would reliably cause a crash eventually if you have "gridlines" turned on).

Regarding the "evil-tendencies", do you have Broader Alignments turned on? The AI at the moment loves to whip population and do other "mechanically-beneficial but ethically-questionable" things, which tends to drop it's alignment score. Broader Alignment is something that we intend to look at further later on, in some detail. For now it's roughly just Grey Fox's implementation.
