FS2- The Soviet Union

I can safely assume that this game is officially dead, since the leader of the SG has again shown no commitment to at least let us know why there is such a huge delay.

Perhaps his computer broke down too (like mine);) . But yeah, I think this SG is pretty much dead now:(

Nah. I was grounded a bit, but I could've probably gotten it up. Therat is right in that I lack dedication to the SG, and that is unfair and silly. I PMed him and told him the SG is his if he wants it. If he doesn't respond, then I will give off to someone else (who is dedicated). Sorry guys, I know I shouldn't have made an SG if I couldn't remain dedicated. :(

It is unlikely that I will be able to play. Tomorrow I do yard work, and from Wednesday till Tuesday, I am in the Imperial Capital (Washington D.C).

JOE, I find it a waste as well. If you want to continue it, please do. I am sorry, but I sorely underestimated the time required to manage and play an SG.

Good luck, FS2!

Sorry for the delay in playing. I've played seven turns, and Hatty wiped out Monty's last city before I could get to him. I've stopped at 7 turns as (if there's still interest), there's a problem I'd like to discuss. Alex or Roosevelt were the suggested tartgets, but, although we have a sizeable enough force to take out either, Alex has a defensive pact with Mao, who is on par with us on tech. Roosevelt has a defensive pact with Cyrus. I'm thinking Roosevelt is the obvious target as Cyrus is mostly on his own island, and any attack is going to be Naval from him. I'm open to suggestions, as I'll freely admit to not being the greatest war tactician in the world.

I have to admit I think it's been left too long for a Domination victory. 1930's and only two civs wiped off the planet? Cyrus has completed Apollo, so wiping out our continent before he can build the spaceship is going to be close...

I have started building Scotland Yard for spies...it'll only take 7 turns, but the spies may come in handy if we need to delay Cyrus and his Spaceship.

If on the other hand, no-one's interested, please let me know and I'll shut the game down.

Thanks.

Well, I don't know. Consider Cyrus never led a war since long. He might have a sizeable army that he just loads onto transports to annoy us.

I think this is more dangerous than getting down on Mao and Alex together. Alex isn't very strong. So I propose taking out south Alex first with heavy protection in the north, thereafter the rest of Alex and then Mao. As both are not beeing loved by anyone we can be sure that nobody declares while we do that.

After taking out the backstabbers - and that's what they are. We should get on Roosevelt. Then is showdown with Hatty. I know we could loose this. But heck - is this our SG? We did the best we could ;-)

Sorry chaps...I've got to pull out of this. My physiotherapy is getting more intense now and leaving me in a fair amount of pain...all I want to do is sleep at the moment, so CIV is going to have to take a backseat until the physio eases off.

Sorry to let you down. I'll stick my oar in when I can, but please, carry on without me.

Well. This leaves ThERat and me. This game was fun. But after this much delay and that much efforts of the game leader (sorry Farae), I lost much of my motivation.

I don't know if anyone wants to play this to the end. We would at least have to be 3. Strauss, what about you? If one of you both say no, we declare this dead. Otherwise we could try it as our task would be warmongering which I think the 3 of us are good in :)

The question is if you think it to be worth anyway. I would give it a try...

I have played one SG here with 2 people, but that was enough for me. This is the 1st SG where I have totally lost interest. We never played as a team in my mind and the constant delays are poison for a SG. But if 2 of you are still so keen, I won't say no...

Roster (closed)
1) Strauss -> Up
2) Therat -> On Deck
3) Pvblivs

I would modify our SG rules a little bit as we're only 3 players:

I would still recommend that a game should be started to be played within the next 48 or 72 hours. But we are in the late game and we're in heavy wars and go for domination still. So it should be possible to need longer. But pleast TELL about that if you think you lack the time and finish tomorrow. Or stop playing if you're time is up and post the save.

If you know you can't play within 72 hours at all, PLEASE request a skip or a temporary swap (that is, you go first if you can) or tell us that you can play tomorrow.

There is no auto-skip anymore, if you think you can play and say nothing, you're responsible. But be aware that others might be waiting :)

Ok, then you're up Strauss. I would recommend we conquer Alex' colonies (in alliance with Mao, so protect in the north), then his mainland and China afterwards. All in your 10 turns

The other options (like the roosevelt-cyrus-allicance) are too difficult with our current position I think. We need more potential so we've got to take out the weak (backstabbers who might attack us anyway) first. Note that Spaceships are flying around soon.

Our mission is: impossible

Ah I do hope you guys succeed!

To be honest, Therat was right. I did not realize the amount of time it would take to run the SG, and I eventually lost interest. I was not a good leader, and I am sorry for my poor management (I hated making executive decisions).

Good luck FS2, I know you can succeed.

/lurker mode

Good luck guys...I'll put my tuppence worth in if necessary. I reckon it'll be another couple of months before I can take part in another SG. I was in a couple coming to an end and it sucks that I've had to pull out near the end game. ChrTh is just about to start another one that I've had to pull out of and I cancelled (or postponed) JOE-03 - Xenophobia, so I can concentrate on getting through the physio.

Hope you get better soon, JOE. I guess your health is much more important than this nastily-addictive game ;) Good luck for you!

Analysis:
Monty has been killed off (by Egypt) and Alex is all but defeated. The only thing holding us back is his large amount of units which means it will take two turns to take a city instead of one. We gained quite some power with Industrialism and tanks. I already positioned quite a few units near the Chinese border. I decided not to attack yet and wait for some tanks. However, if you (TheRat) wish to attack you can do so, the units are quite sufficient I think (as Mao doesn't have Infantry etc. yet).

I forgot to take a screenie of our current position in regard to our goal (domination) and it's too late to start the game back up, but land was 23-24% and population was 20-21%. Conquering Greece and China will probably give us the required population, however I am unsure if it will give us enough land. I doubt it, which would mean we will have to attack Roosevelt. Roosevelt himself isn't very strong, and his ally/allies are on another continent, so a 'blitzkrieg' against him could give us our victory.

It's still possible, three civs have already built an Appolo Program but no spaceship parts yet. Pvblivs, if you manage to conquer Greece and at least cripple China's military, we could still manage it.

Too bad so many people lost interest in this SG (although I quite understand) as we could still make a great comeback;)
