Full Patch Notes for December Patch

Release notes on Steam are identical to the OP. So no surprises (so far).

Yes, I'm currently playing around with GS yielding a number of beakers that depends on the number of techs you have researched. Even if you tie it to era, it would be better than the current system (although eras are discontinuous enough in my opinion)

This sounds promising. Good luck with it.

I just wished I could follow the logic of needing Chivalry for Acoustics. It works for gameplay, but just makes me scratch my head otherwise. Would have preferred a Physics link, but that would have been a tech tree reorganization.

Chivalry had the same strong religious component that led to the building of cathedrals (with its connection to acoustics). What makes the connection not so obvious is the focus on "acoustics."

Yeah, I'd say so. Slight caveat in that using real artists' names help mitigate that one slightly. I realize this is a game, but these Natural Wonders aren't natural and some aren't real.

Admit it... i was 66% right and you were almost 33% wrong!
Sorry - couldn't resist.:D

I do admit it! That was the first thing I checked, and needless to say I was disappointed. :p

Question: how can El Dorado possibly be a Natural Wonder if it's man-made?

You shouldn't ask questions like that.

More poignantly, how could The Fountain of Youth be a Natural Wonder if it is a figment of man's imagination?

I've been a fairly strong supporter of Civ5 from day one, but this is pretty ridiculous.

Even more importantly: will the AIs traffic-jam around that Fountain of Youth, sending all of their units to acquire the magic healing ability, or is it too stupid for that? Of course, jamming around The Fountain of Youth is quite stupid as well, but in game theory, it is the only rational choice, or else you allow other players to get an advantage over you.

In a way, forming a ring of defenders around the FoY is the most rational decision, even if nobody can benefit from it.

To reduce the ability to respond with appropriate promotions on the battlefield (which the AI can't do), and in particular to remove the ability to store up excess promotions for use on instant healing.

I suppose you're one of the lucky ones; the ones that didn't memorize every Orwell book ever written. SAVE YOURSELVES!

Why?

Pre-patch, you couldn't enter the hexes of natural wonders.
Assuming that this hasn't been changed and that you have to have it next to one of your cities (which are said to be much harder to conquer now) I see these things pretty much self-defending now.

FoY is pretty much an insta-citysettle location. I would not really go out of my way to add extra defenders by it, aside from cycling my own troops for the buff.

King of the hill! Civ 5 goes first person shooter.

Can a Nukkklearggggh sub get close enough to exploit the magical effects too?
Cuz, Destroyer(s) could still see it but a tiny bit too late for successive combat odds!:D

Phantom of The Opera, masked, Zorro -- SuperHeroes.
Gosh Katie Moskovits, i'm over-reacting again.
When's my appointment to the Doctor's office?
